We have all seen the box office havoc of OMG 2 and Gadar 2 on 11 August this year, but do you remember 11 August 2022 – the clash of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and Aamir Khan – Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’?

Mansoor Khan, who is the director of Aamir’s debut film, ‘Qayamat se Qayamat Tak’, and his cousin, in an interview for his new book ‘One: The Story of the Ultimate Myth’, remembered the iconic day.
He revealed that even though he liked the script and how Atul Kulkarni adapted it, he had told Aamir Khan that his acting was ‘over the top’ in the film compared to Tom Hanks in ‘Forrest Gump’. He felt that the character is not suffering from dyslexia like Ishan Awasthi in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ but was just a bit different.

Aamir had ignored the review but he only took it seriously later, when he was told that the legendary director of ‘Baahubali’ and ‘RRR’, S.S. Rajamouli had the same opinion on his performance which was seriously something to think about.

Mansoor shared, “Aamir has a great sense of humour. So one day he laughingly tells me, ‘When you told me it was over the top, I said, ok, you are a subtle guy which is why you might have felt that way. But when someone like Rajamouli tells me overacting lag raha hai, I said to myself, Isko bhi lag raha hai toh kiya hi hoga’.”
Rajamouli was invited by Aamir Khan to the film’s pre-release screening along with Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Ram Charan, Naga Chaitanya and Sukumar (Director of Pushpa: The Rise).

The day also marked the failure of a great film, ‘Raksha Bandhan’ by Aanand L Rai, a very rare and memorable film based on the bond of brothers and sisters with the social message of dowry and the system of Indian weddings which is considered to be a burden for many.
After the LSC debacle, Aamir Khan is taking a break and really thinking about his next. He was about to star in the Hindi remake of Spanish film ‘Campeones’, but later decided to take a longer break from acting and spend more time with his family.

He offered the film to Salman Khan but he was not so keen. The role finally went to Farhan Akhtar and the prep for the film has begun. Meanwhile, Aamir is also producing ‘Love Today’ remake starring his son Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, Lapata Ladies, Pritam Pyaare, and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey remake.
Director SS Rajamouli is gearing up for his next jungle adventure film starring Mahesh Babu, which will be similar to Indian Jones, as in exploration, action and adventure. The female lead has not been locked yet.
At the same time, Aanand L Rai has decided to make a Raanjhanaa universe and currently directing ‘Tere Ishk Mein’ starring Dhanush.
