‘Gadar’ 2 has recently crossed ₹375 Cr in Hindi nett in just 10 days of its run and is currently challenging the lifetime Hindi nett collection of ‘Pathaan’, which is more than ₹500 Cr.
Border 2
Looking at what success nostalgia can bring, director JP Dutta and producer Nidhi Dutta are keen on making ‘Border 2’ with Sunny Deol, projecting it as India’s Biggest War Film ever made.
‘Border’ was set on the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war and reportedly ‘Border 2’ would also be based on the same war. The audience is both curious and confused as to what still remains to be seen 52 years after the war.
Development
The team has been discussing the possibility of making a border sequel for the last 2 to 3 years. They are yet to start the writing process and are currently finding a big production house to finance the film. The team is all set to make an official announcement in a fortnight.
Cast
While Sunny Deol will be the lead, other actors for the sequel are not locked yet. Being a heavy-on-action film, the team will be casting actors from the younger generation, rather than bringing back the old cast of Border, like Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna and others.
Music
In addition, there is no report on who will be the music director for the film, whether it will be Anu Malik or someone else but fans are hoping that they do not get a remix of the iconic song, ‘Sandese Aate Hain’ by Sonu Nigam in the film.
Maa Tujhhe Salaam 2
The poster for the announcement was exclusively tweeted by veteran trade analyst Atul Mohan on his X ( Twitter) handle. In part one Maa Tujhhe Salaam (2002), there was a famous saying, ‘Doodh maangoge toh kheer denge, Kashmir maangoge toh chheer denge’.
In part 2, the dialogue goes a bit further. It says, ‘Doodh maangoge toh kheer denge, Kashmir maangoge toh Lahore bhi chheen lenge’.
The film’s star cast is not revealed, but there is a mention of Major Pratap Singh from part 1, which indicates Sunny Deol in the lead. The poster also mentions producer Mahendra Dahriwal, but not the director. More details are awaited.
On the other hand, Sunny Deol has shared an insta-story where he has denied signing any film. But even though he has not signed any contract, the makers can still be in talks with an actor and plan a film. Signing on the dotted line may happen a little late, and as we have seen, news do come out through sources and the studios or actors keep denying them until they make their final announcement. Only time will tell if these two films are really happening or not.
