“Mohabbat Pe Nahi Hia Kisi Ka Kaabu, Pak Chika Pak Raja Babu“
Trailer Overview
The trailer felt like a compilation of scenes telling the plot with jokes sprinkled all over. Film looks fun, though.
The Length
Pata nahi kaun si kitab padhte hain ye log, jaha inko bataya gaya hai itna lamba trailer banao. Trailer ke 2 hi purpose hote hain, pehla ki film kis bare mein hai uska glimpse do. GLIMPSE DO, FILM MAT DIKAHO. Aur dusra, audience ko itna excite karo ki wo theatre tak ane ki mehnat bhi kare aur paise bhi kharche.
Lambe trailer mein sabse badi dikkat hoti hai ki editor ka intention aur flow accha bhi ho, toh bhi length complete karne ke liye additional shots and dialogues dalne padte hain jo automatically flow kharab kar dete hain aur impact kam ho jata hai.
Abhi kuch fans naraz honge apne bias ke chakkar mein, but this holds true every single time. Yahi fans dusro ke trailer mein exactly yahi baat feel karte hain lekin apne star ke time pe bias ho jate hain, bhul jate hain. Happens with all fan clubs, all the time.
The Plot Reveal
Firse sab bata diya. Fir wahi climax aur fill in the blanks ke liye film dekho. Release tak saare gaane, un gaano mein jo bhi story chal rahi hogi wo, plus kuch aur short promos mila ke 60-70% film dekhi hui lagne lagegi. One big reason why people skip theatrical watch and wait for ott.
Looks like the entire industry is just not interested in creativity anymore. Everything they do is to fulfill the checklist given by agents and agencies.
Ending?
Kitne prati-shat log, ye mante hain, ki ye shot climax ka hoga jab Sunny aur Tulsi mil jayenge end mein? Kyu aise shots dal ke plot points drop karte ho bhai? Kyu?
Film Looks Fun
Despite a bad trailer, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari seems to be enjoyable and fun to watch. Varun Dhawan and Dharma Productions have done a number of such films (both together and separately) and we have enjoyed them. But such film, can go either ways, and thus the screenplay, the overall story and comedy, all need to be balanced.
Saying this because if we look at director Shashank Kahitan, Humpty Sharma and Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya were enjoyable, while Govinda Naam Mera was not. Student of the Year part one was enjoyable, while part 2 was not. So a lot depends on the execution.
Abhi Sab Cringe Cringe Bolenge
Logon ka ek perception ban gaya hai, kuch ko troll karna, kuch ko underrated bolna, kuch ko bhagwan maan lena, etc. I’m pretty sure Varun and Janhvi ko log cringe cringe bolke troll karenge from the trailer till release and maybe after ott as well.
What people don’t realize is that this is not overacting. This is a type of acting. Same jo Ranveer Singh ko bolte hain Simmba ke liye. Lack of cinema knowledge and social media perception make them say this. Hollywood dekhoge toh samajh ayega ki ye style of films, scenes and over the top acting is also a type, which is not unheard of. The only thing that matters is, whether they land or not.
For example, Dhol, Dhamaal Golmaal, bhi ek style hai na, real log toh waise nahi baat karte, ya behave karte. But we never troll them. That’s because they have created a perfect world in their film where they fit. Yaha bhi wahi hona zaruri hai. Janhvi and Varun need to fit in the world of SSKTK, otherwise wo sach mein cringe ho jayenge.
How Perception Works
Review likhne mein thoda sa late ho gaya lekin kuch opinions sunn liye. Jaise log keh rahe hain Sanya aur Rohit better lag rahe hain. I wanna ask this.. kaise better lag rahe hain bhai? I mean, socho.. na unke zyada dialogues hain trailer mein, na zyada scenes. Toh kya “better” lag gaya?
It’s only the perception that is at play here. Logon ne maan liya hai ki Varun-Janhvi nepo kids hain aur acche nahi hain, aur jo outsider hai wo accha hai, jaise Rohit and Sanya. Bhai, I also feel they are better actors, but just based on the trailer, how can anyone say wo “better lag rahe hain?” It’s all perception; your mind has created a bias. And all the noise on social media works on this bias. Saying this for every topic, everywhere, not just for films.
Varun Dhawan
Special mention for just one actor here because he is the most senior here (in terms of playing the lead). Bhai kya kar rahe ho yaar? Wahi same acting jo 10 films mein dekh chuke hain. Comedy karna is not the problem, not even the cheesy lines you’ve been given, but same wahi expressions, same wahi tone in dialogue delivery?
Ek toh film bhi same type ki hi kar rahe ho, iske baad Yeh Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai ayegi. Baby John thodi alag thi toh usme bhi younger character apka waisa hi tha. Aise mein troll toh hoge hi. Yahi legacy create karna chahte ho kya? Please make better choices.
Influencers and Recreating Reels
Ek ye naya start ho gaya hai influencers ko film mein lena as Hero Ka Dost. You guys must have seen reels of Karan (focusedindian), Neel (just_neel_things) and their friends on instagram. All of them are super talaneted. Their one reel was so viral, even Arijit spoke about it in a podcast. Here is the link. Usi reel ka recreation kar diya hai inhone film mein. I don’t think it is such a great idea in 2025. Hume cinema dekhna hai, compilation of gimmicks nahi.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Dulhaniya
You guys know na, ki Saiyaara was written as Aashiqui 3 but later Vishesh Films and Tseries were not on good terms so Mohit Suri went to Yrf. Dekhoge toh same pattern hai Aashiqui franchise ka, young couple, newcomers, music and love story. Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Ka bhi kuch waisa hi hai.
I don’t know how many of you remember this, but news ayi thi ki Shashank Khaitan is working on the third part of Dulhaniya series. Fir news ayi ki Alia Bhatt will not be the part of this film, and Janhvi will be taken instead. People were furious, both the Dulhaniya films had been fun, plus people really like Varun-Alia (Varia as they say).
After this backlash Dharma put out a post that no such film as Dulhaniya 3 is being made. Fir kuch tim baad news ati hai ki Varun and Janhvi ke sath film ban rahi hai kiska naam hai, Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari. OMG, public toh bewakoof hai unko samajh hi nahi ayega apne kya game khele hai :p
Dekho title mein bhi wahi pattern hai, Humpti Sharma Ki – Sunny Sanskari Ki. Bas Dulhaniya naam rakhte toh public outrage ho hi chuka tha, toh dulhaniya ki jagah character ka naam dal diya, Tulsi Kumari. Socha Khichdi ke Himanshu jaise ‘Kisi Ko Pata Nahi Chalega’. Film bhi dekho toh Shaadi-Dulha-Dulhan-Love Story hai. Wahi theme, wahi title.
Movie Marketing
Dharma kabhi acchi marketing karta hai kabhi nahi. I don’t have much hopes from the marketing of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. I think wahi Param Sundari jaisa ghum ghum ke city tours, interviews, etc karenge, zyada kuch special nahi. They will try to sell the stars and not the film.
The only marketing this year I liked, where they were selling the film and not the stars is Jolly LLB 3. Their trailer was underwhelming but that’s it. Everything else has been very engaging and the focus is Jolly vs Jolly and the Judge. They are selling characters not the actors. Actors toh automatically honge hi na. But if people are not excited about the film then they won’t spend money on the stars.
Final Thoughts
When I say film looks fun despite a dud trailer, it means I’m using my brain to analyse that the film would be fun to watch, based on my past experiences. But if my choice of buying ticket was based on just the trailer, then it wont be the same. The trailer itself does not excite me enough to make me buy the ticket.
As said earlier, a lot of things will depend on the execution. I don’t think (from the trailer) that the film will be extraordinary, but it seems to be engaging. Experience ruin kar diya hai kaafi hadd tak trailer se plot bata ke, still there is hope for a good time. Clashing with Kantara Chapter 1. So let’s see Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari ka fate kya rehta hai.
