On this Independence Day, you would remember watching tons of movies on the Indian Army in your lifetime but barely any when it comes to the Air Force, the closest we remember is Jackie Shroff as an Air Force officer in ‘Border’ (1997).
But now, Bollywood has started recognizing the efforts of the Air Force officers and producing big movies about them that you should know about.
1. Fighter (2024)

Fighter is a film starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor in lead roles, releasing on 25 January, 2024. The film will be directed by Siddharth Anand riding on back-to-back successes of ‘War’ and ‘Pathaan’. It will be written by Ramon Chibb who has previously worked on ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. The film is produced by Viacom 18 Studios and Siddharth Anand’s own Marflix Pictures.
Hrithik plays Shamsher Pathania aka Patty, an aspiring young man, who fulfills his lifelong dream of joining the Indian Air Force. As he faces rigorous personal challenges, Patty must rise above his own limitations to be a true hero of the Indian Armed Forces.
2. Tejas (2023)

‘Tejas’ stars Kangana Ranaut in the lead role. It will be the 2nd film of writer and director Sarvesh Mewara. The film will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala (RSVP Movies) known for ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’.
The film revolves around the extraordinary journey of Tejas Gill, a Sikh Air Force pilot, and aims to inspire and instill a deep sense of pride in the valiant soldiers who tirelessly defend our nation, confronting numerous challenges along the way. It will be released much earlier compared to others on 20 October 2023.
3. Skyforce (2024)

‘Skyforce’ is an action thriller starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles along with another debutant. The film will be directed by Abhishek Kapur (Rock On, Kedarnath) and debutant Sandeep Kewlani, chairman of Good Karma Films who has also written films like ‘Runway 34’ and ‘Bholaa’.
It is based on true events and celebrates one of the greatest victories of the Indian Air Force during the 1960s and 1970s. It is supposed to release in late 2024. The film will be produced by Dinesh Vijan (Maddock Films).
4. Operation Valentine (2023)

It is a multilingual film shot in Telugu and Hindi starring Varun Tej and Manushi Chillar in lead roles. It is directed by debutant filmmaker Shakti Pratap Singh Hada. The film will release on 8 December 2023, clashing with Shahid-Kriti’s untitled Robot rom-com.
