The past few days have been a golden period for distributors and exhibitors all over India with the release of Gadar 2, OMG 2, Jailer and Bhola Shankar along with the already successful running Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

On 11 August, North India recorded box office havoc with Gadar 2 opening at ₹40.1 Cr, OMG 2 with ₹10.26 Cr and RRKPK already running successfully collected ₹2.35 Cr.
On the weekend overview, Gadar 2 made a humongous total of ₹134.88 Cr, OMG 2 was supposedly limited due to its ‘A’ rating but still surprised the audience earning ₹43.11 Cr and RRKPK collected ₹ 10.05cr taking its total to ₹130 Cr.

Now moving towards South, on the opening day, Bhola Shakar (Telugu) starring Chiranjeevi, opened with ₹16.25 Cr on Friday, but declined over the weekend. Total opening weekend collection was ₹26.4 Cr.
Jailer (Tamil) starring Rajinikanth released a day early, on the 10th of August and managed to earn ₹48.35 Cr from all over India with a contribution of mere ₹35 Lakhs from Hindi.
The film has already garnered a staggering ₹176.70 Cr in India and an additional ₹131.30 Cr worldwide, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.com.

Stampede Outside Single Screens
Audience is upto no stopping as thousands of people on Sunday were present waiting for their shows outside popular single screens like Gaiety Galaxy, religiously chanting the names of their favourable films, creating an environment for films which was long lost and always deserved to be there.
Even in the tier two and tier three cities, we received reports that both Gadar 2 and Omg 2 were going houseful, though the number of screens allotted to Gadar 2 were more.

Record for India Cinema
According to the Producers Guild Of India (PGI) and the Multiplex Association Of India (MAI),
we witnessed a total business of more than ₹390 Cr+ across India.
On the weekend of 11th – 13th August, theatres across India gathered a footfall of more than 2.10 Cr, highest in the last 10 years.

Expected Lifetime
All the films have passed the Monday test surpassing all expectations. With its current run, Gadar 2 is eyeing for a massive ₹300 Cr+ in its complete run while OMG 2 can stand anywhere around ₹100-150 Cr, keeping in mind it’s A certificate (the foolishness of CBFC). Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has almost finished its run and can end up anywhere between Rs 145-150cr as well.

Tomorrow is a holiday due to Independence Day, so more collections are expected to pour in, for each film. How many of these films have you watched? Which one is your favourite?
