Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster is on the cards. It is being produced by Atlee along with producer Murad Khetani. Varun Dhawan has been locked for the lead role which was originally played by Thalapathy Vijay.
Now, according to reports, Anushka Sharma will play one of the female leads in the yet-untitled Theri remake. The two actors are reuniting 5 years after YRF’s ‘Sui Dhaga’ (2018). In the original film, the female leads were played by Samantha Prabhu and Amy Jackson. It is unclear if Anushka will be playing the role of the wife or the teacher.
Hunt for the second female lead is underway. Previously, Janhvi Kapoor was offered one of the roles, But she declined citing date issues. Tamil filmmaker Kalees, director of 2019 thriller ‘Kee’, is taking up the director’s chair for the Hindi remake.
The remake is said to have gone through several changes in the script to make it suitable and fresh for the northern audience. The shooting for the film is supposed to start in the next few months.
