“Bahubali Maarte Nahi Hain, Maarne Ka Order Dete Hain “

This Mirzapur The Movie review will be full of spoilers. If you just want the verdict, ki theatre mein dekhi ya nahi, toh skip to the last paragraph, and come back to this review after watching. Kyuki, “Kaleen Bhaiya Hain Wo, King of Mirzapir, Toh Hum Huye Bsdk Prince!”
Theatrical Experience
I went for a 10 pm show. 25 minute ads dikhaye PVR ne. Movie trailers mein Haiwaan, Daayra, Vibe, Prem Keetanu dikhaya. Audience acchi thi, sahi jagah pe seetiya, taaliyaan, hooting hui. Koi chhapripana nahi, ki faltu ke comments and all. So with a good audience, the experience gets better.
Morning shows jane chhod diye maine, kyuki ek toh kam log ate hain subah, plus dull rehta hai mahol. Friday night ko office ke baad ate hain dhang ke log actually interested in the film. Usme bi dull mahol ho jata hai kabhi kabhi, but generally sahi rehta hai.
Almost Perfect
I said Almost Perfect in the title. Reason is that first half mujeh thoda sa kam engaging laga. This may be just me, apko maybe aisa na laga ho but hear me out.
So the story was going well, but few scenes did not have the impact. Scenes saare acche the, impact kam tha. Kaise batau.. dekho Mirzapur season 1 kitna high energy pe chalta hai. 10 episode (10 hours) ki jagah 3 episode ki length (3 hours) mein sab dikhana hai, logon ki expectation manage karni hai, toh mushkil kaam toh hai. Aur bahaut accha kaam liya hai writer and director ne.
But fir mujhe lagta hai aisi film bahaut high energy and engaging honi chahiye where every scene is keeping you focued. Much like Animal. So first half mein kaafi ups and downs lage in terms of engagement. From the middle of second half, it took off like crazy till the very end, and compensated for everything. Usi tarah se puri film hoti toh kuch aur hi baat ho jati, nahi?
I have a lot of points to explain this, but iss section ki jagah baki dedicated section mein likhta hu, jaise characters and music wale section mein, aap dots connect kar lena.
Ravi Kishan
One actor that stands out truly is Ravi Kishan. Not that others were not impressive, just that he was a powerful antagonist and baki sabko toh humne dekha hua hai na. Ye Babban Babua new character tha. Also, Ravi Kishan ko kabhi aise bade role mein present bhi nahi kiya hai kisi Hindi film ne.
Acting wise he was so good, so dominating. Power wise also he was the strongest. Kayi logon ko team up karke marna pada tab jake kuch pita, warna Babban was ready to kill everyone. Even Ali Fazal in Hulk mode was beaten up by Babban quite well. Wo toh sscript ki demand thi ki villain marega, warna wo pehli hi film mein sabko nipta deta.
One thing I felt was that his scenes in the first half was not that impactful. Not acting or writing wise. But maybe editing. Also felt that Babban needed to have a BGM of his own. Wo same scenes ka impact thoda badha deta.
Pankaj Tripathi
He was good as always. Sab tarah ki tareef log karte aa rahe hain saalo se kya hi alag bolu main. Ek cheez jo mujhe bahaut mast lagi, ki Akhandanand Tripathi ka gaali dena ka style bahaut alag hai.
Main, tum ya koi bhi gaali deta hai toh ek alag emotion, ek energy, ek facial expression ata hai, coz gaali nikalti hai kisi frustration se, gusse mein, chaud mein, jo Mirzapur ke bhi baki har charatcer mein dikhega. Lekin Kaleen Bhaiya ek calm demeanor ke sath line mein gaali aise jod jete hain kaise wo ek normal word ho. Aram se gaali dena bhi alag hota hai. Inhone usse bhi zyada subtle bana diya hai isko. Kamaal karte ho Tripathi ji.
Divyenndu
Aisa nahi laga Munna Bhaiya ko thoda dull bana diya tha? Dull na sahi, thoda kam agressive keh lo, lekin series ke mukable toh bahaut calm character tha. Kisi random ko bewajah nahi pela, kisi ka murder nahi kiya bewajah. Bas wo minister wala scene accha tha lekin overall he was a very soft version of Munna from the series. His animosity with Guddu was also quite less.
Ye ek complain hai writing waise, a very minor one. I don’t know the reason why they chose to do that.
Ali Fazal
Bhai toh pure Hulk mode mein aa gaye yar. It felt like Ali Fazal was enjoying playing Guddu. The character was a lot more crazy than the series. Like more boyish and mental. Kuch bhi bolta hai, kuch bhi karta hai, bilkul pagal hai. Camel ka injection laga liya, hadd hai 😂
Also, Guddu and Munna team up kabhi socha tha?? Bilkul hi twist kar diya from the series. Dono ko similar similar bol ke ek team mein le aaye. And the post-credit scene was the cherry on top. Let’s see Mirzapur part 2 mein kya karte hain.
Mohit Malik and Rasika Dugal
Kya twist tha yaar, kya twist tha. Beena aur Birju Lohar ki backstory ek accha angle thi. Aur jo end kiya hai.. ufff. Saanso Ki Mala song pe wo Kaleen Bhaiya vs Birju Lohar. Fir Bauji ki entry.. aur fir Beena ka attack!!!! Mindblowing. Those final expressions of Birju and Beena both… heart-breaking… “Love tha.. zindagi bhai thodi na rahega.”
I noticed something on the internet. People are misunderstanding this scene. They are saying Birju Lohar ka kat gaya. Comparing him with other fictional characters jinka kat gaya tha movie mein. Arre ye thodi hua.
Beena let Birju in, thinking he would be able to kill Akhandanand. But when he couldn’t, she knew Birju would die nevertheless. And the Tripathis were having a doubt about her too, meaning she would also be killed. It was a lost battle. So she killed him, in a desperate attempt to save herself.
I know hume adat hai movies mein dekhne ki, ki lover ke liye jaan dedi, but real mein humesha aisa nahi hota. So the makers changed this and showed a different side. Ki dono marr jate, isse accha ek toh zinda rahe. She was crying; we just got a glimpse, but that makes her intention clear. Usne kaata nahi tha.
Makes you realize that people have no sense of cinema but want to complain or make fun of everything. Agar itna simple sa scene samajh nahi aaya toh socho kya kya hoga jo bina samjhe troll karte rehte honge, and hum un sabko “opinion” maan lete hain.
Abhishek Banerjee and Satendra Soni
Compounder ko firse dekh ke accha laga. And his cousin, Chandu Puncture was such a good addition. Puri film mein acche se dikhaya, despite being for a shorter duration. But usi wajah se uski death feel hoti hai, warna character establish kiye bina marr jaye toh waste lagta hai.
Wo part mast jaga jahan, Chandu says, “Aapko gun chalana nahi aata?”
Compounder replies, “Haan nahi ata bsdk, tabhi ustara chalate hain.” 😂
The Ladies of Mirzapur
The other ladies of Mirzapur did not have much to talk about. They were all quite good in their respective roles. We already loved them a lot in the series, as they had more screen time, but in the film it was not the case. Still, each one of them did their job well, as always.
Jitendra as Bablu Bhaiya
Again, some are saying Jitendra Kumar is a misfit in the film, same acting in every role.
People don’t realize that he has been typecast. A simple guy who bottles up his feelings and mostly reacts to situations rather than taking the lead. He always gets the same role.
Think about it, what else could he have done as Bablu Pandit? Yes, Vikrant Massey is a better actor, but Bablu Pandit was still not a loud character. We appreciated him more because of his screen time as well. He had time to showcase more emotions, so we loved him.
Some people were also saying he was an upgrade to Vikrant Massey in the same role. Ye bhi pata nahi kaunsa logic hai. I think he was decent, and jo bhi hota decent hi lagta, because the role of Bablu Pandit was written that way.
Shaji Choudhary as Maqbool
Inko action mein dekh ke bhi accha laga. 3 seasons ke baad ek proper action scene mila. Wo toh Bichhoo ne kaat liya warna Ravi Kishan ko acchi takkar de dete.
Other Cameos
Kaafi sare characters ka cameo dikha ke ek nostalgia create kiya from the series. 1-2 shots, 1-2 scenes just to create that feeling.
Rati Shankar Shukla ko fir bhi thoda prominent karke dikhaya. Fir Sharad Shukla aur uski mummy ko bhi dikhaya. Robin ko ek scene diya Dimpy ke sath. Guddu-Bablu ke mom-dad bhi the, mom ke zyada scenes the. Uttar Pradesh CM ka bhi ek scene diya.
Raja (the servant) ka ek scene diya, with a hint of an illicit relationship with Beena Bhabhi. Zarina aur JP Yadav ke relation ka bhi hint de diya. Radhiya being forced into sex with Munna was there; Munna counting while fucking was there.
Bauji Mirzapur series ke apne first scene mein Paya-Nihari kuch kha rahe the. Bones choos rahe the. Isme crab kha rahe the.
Nostalgia Bait
Waise toh baki bahuat log nostalgia bait ke liye forced sequels bana rahe hain, par wo complaint nahi kar raha main yaha.
What I’m trying to say is that a lot of things in the film were shown as if we already knew it. JP Yadav-Munna-Zarina wala Holi scene toh directly dikhaya. Fir JP Yadav and Zarina ka relation hint kiya. Kaleen Bhaiya ka ‘Important’ wala dialogue as it is use kiya. Raja aur Beena Bhabhi ke relation wala hint diya.
Ramakant Pandit being against Guddu-Bablu turning into gangsters was not explained. Compounder giving goli to Guddu, that shotgun being called Anaconda, the tune of “Lodu Lalit”, Sweety-Munna-Guddu love triangle.
If someone has not seen the series, even they can watch the film. But we can’t deny that the film benefits heavily from the love already received from the people. The makers could skip a lot of world-building as it was not needed and jumped straight to the Bhaukaal. Yahi meri complaint hai pacing and impact ko leke. Jab apke pass ye advantage hai, toh starting se hi full throttle pe chalna chahiye tha. Aap chale bhi.. writing se kuch khas shikayat nahi, lekin haan screenplay and editing shayad thodi better ho sakti thi.
Music
So the original Mirzapur theme from the series is still the GOAT. Usse better kuch nahi hai. Film ke liye usi ka ek version banaya hai, jo main use karta hu while posting on Instagram, but usme wo feel nahi ati. That Haryanvi rap Do Numbari is till feel is a misfit, only done for the clout. UP ke gunde Rajasthan ja rahe hain toh Haryanvi gaan kyu baj raha hai? Wahi jo popular hai usko utha lo algorithm trigger karne ke liye, sense bane na bane.
And if you don’t know, Excel has now entered into Music as well. Maddock ne bhi kiya hai. Ab aur zyada forced gaane mila karenge, it’s all business now, art toh kaafi saal pehle hi marr gaya tha. Padhna iske bare mein. Accha aur lamba topic of discussion hai.
Vaaroon Forever theek tha, series se hi liya tha. End fight mein Shoorveer song mast fit hota hai. And Saanson Ki Mala in mid-credit sequence works like pure magic.
Creative Things
Title kaise aaya, notice kiya? Kaleen Bhaiya and Guddu-Bablu scene ke baad jab uss Baahubali ke bete ka sar pani mein tha, khoon nikalta hai, waha se title form hota hai. Very nice.
End mein bhi artwork accha tha har character ke liye. Accha lagta hai ye sab. Art and effort of an artist always make you feel something.
Verdict
Dekho dekho zarur dekho, kaha busy ho? Agle week Haiwaan aa jayegi, screens kam ho jayenge.. isi week dekh lo.

Aur haan.. post-credit scene ke liye rukna. Ek mid-credit hai ek post-credit.
