Trailer Overview
De De Pyaar De 2 might be the only Ajay Devgn film this year that would be fun to watch. Raid 2 was just okay for me, first part was better. Let’s discuss this trailer in detail.
The Length
It happens very rarely that a 3-minute-long trailer is fun to watch from start to end. De De Pyaar De 2 trailer is one of those exceptions.
I would have still preferred a shorter trailer, the only reason being that I do not like to see much of the footage and plot points before the film. But other than that, credit to the editor for making a long trailer interesting.
The Cut
A very smooth trailer. Thoda sa linear cut rehta hai but not too much. What’s a linear cut, you ask? Wo trailer hote hain na jinki opening film ki opening hoti hai, fir jaise jaise film aage badhti hai waise waise hi trailer mein bhi shots dikhate hain, fir trailer ke end mein bhi wahi shots dikha dete hain jo film ke end mein hone wala hota hai. Arre wahi trailers jinko dekh ke lagta hai puri film dekh li.
Normally trailer mein feel dikhani hoti hai film ki, aage peeche ke random shots, dialogues, and some montage shots with music. So De De Pyaar De 2 trailer linear hai, par pura nahi. Start se end tak aap connected rehte ho aur end mein mann karta hai ki ye achi film hogi, dekhenge!
The Plot
Dekho first part ke baad thoda toh pata hi tha ki kya kya hone wala hai. Pehle Ajay ke ghar Rakul gayi thi, ab Rakul ke ghar Ajay jayega. Ajay ki age sabse bada issue hoga. Family ke reactions and all hum imagine kar sakte the, itni films toh humne dekhi hain. Cheeni Kum mein bhi dekha hi tha how fathers react.
In De De Pyaar De 2, the parents try to accept being a modern family. They definitely don’t like it, they don’t approve it, but they try. Rakul does not tell the real age of Ajay, which is another plot point. And then it becomes about a war between the parents and Rakul. All this while Ajay does not know how to behave or react to things around Rakul’s parents. R. Madhavan and Gautami Kapoor scenes are hilarious by the way.
The parents try bringing in a young boy for Rakul, in a hope that she will get attracted to someone her own age and ditch the older man. Then all those sequences happen. I would have preferred that i did not know about this plot point whicle watching the film. Surprise element khatam. I know trailer mein kuch toh dikhana padta hai but I would always prefer that I dont watch trailers. Bas ye review ke liye ye zehar bar abr peena padta hai.
Jaaved Jaaferi as the best friend will also be there, giving advice and some punches from time to time. Dekha ek trailer mein kitna sara plot pata chal gaya? Bas isliye kehta hu lamba trailer mat banao. Ya audience ko kehta hu trailer hi mat dekho. Ajeeb cycle hai na, trailer ke bina film ka pata nahi chalta, aur trailer dekhne ke baad film ka impact khatam ho jata hai.
Recommendation
Try avoiding all promos and news about films. Bas jiski bhi tareef suno, un logon se jinke opinion pe bharosa karte ho, wo film dekho directly. Fir wo theatre ho ya ott. Try watching any 5 films without promos and then 5 films with all promos. You will see the difference yourself.
Comedy
All the gags and punches worked for me. None of that Samji level shit. There were more situation based, character based and mature punches. Aisa rare hota hai. Accha laga.
Meta Jokes
Always a fan of meta jokes if done right. Meezan entering with legs on 2 cars, the signature Ajay Devgn pose was so good. Then Ajay also acknowledges it. “30 saal pehle kar chuka hu.” And a classic best friend response, “30 saal pehle wo paida nahi hui thi na.”
The second one was from Singham. Spinning car mein gate khol deta hai, and the driver says, “Sir, mujhe laga important mauke par aap aise hi utarte ho.” Mast. Par thoda bacha lete film ke liye bhi.
Bas ab Shaitaan ka kooi reference aa jaye toh maza aa jaye.
Acting
Saare hi kill kar rahe hain. Nothing more to add.
Music
Part 1 ke gaane acche the. Ajkal nahi dekhta main gaane film ke pehle. Pura gaana dikha dete hain fir wahi dekha dekha lagta hai theatre mein impact khatam ho jata hai. Character expressions, aur kuch shots mila ke plot ka bhi pata chalne lagta hai. Isliye ab dekhta hi nahi.
Reels avoid karna mushkil hot ahi but jitna ho sake avoid karta hu. Sunn leta hu koi koi gaana but saare nahi. Film ke baad jo accha lagta hai wo playlist mein aa jata hai. Waise Tseries hai, toh kya lagta hai ek remake song toh hoga film mein, what do you think?
Final Thoughts
The trailer is fun, the film looks fun. Bas aur kya chahiye. Jo plot reveal wali dikkat hai, ab toh uski adat pad gayi hai. Does not mean it’s okay. It’s not. Lekin ab zyada kuch kar nahi sakte. Hope they improve movie marketing warna kuch time mein mature audience indulge karna hi band kar degi.
Aur haan.. bc Daal kaun nahi khata? 😂
