“Telepathy ? THALAPATHY!!!“
Overview
First of all, I just want to say that I have watched the original film Pariyerum Perumal too, and then Dhadak 2, which is a remake. And hands down, this is called a perfect remake. Shazia Iqbal nailed it. She’s definitely a great director. Now we can see the reason why she won so many awards for just a short film. We will talk about everything in detail here. Let’s begin with the review now.

Plot
Neelesh played by Siddhant Chaturvedi, he was a dalit and he starts loving an upper caste girl Vidhi played by Triptii Dimri. In this caste discrimination film, everyone thinks it’s a love story but no it’s not about love only. This whole movie revolves around caste discrimination.
We can feel character of Neelesh, that he grew up in a traumatic lifestyle and that trauma was clearly visible on his face. This movie showcases life of a dalit student, how he survives in society and society reminds him every time that “Tu quota se hai,” being capable also everyone tells him this. Bass isse zyada likhunga toh puri movie yahi par ho jaayegi.
Ab aap sochoge ismei naya kya hai? Dekho yaar cinephile angle se baat karunga. Ye koi mass masala entertainer nahi hai. This film deals with a sensitive and intense topic. Jab trailer aaya tha mujhe laga tha controversies hongi iss film ke around but no, everyone is loving this film.
Music
It wasn’t necessary because it was such a raw and gritty film. Music nahi bhi daalte chalta but phir yaad aaya Dharma ki movie hai, music ke bina unka kaam nahi chalta hai. Ek cheez maine notice ki, YouTube pr jo gaane release kiye hai usme se 2 toh film mein the hi nahi.
Preet Re by Darshan Raval, Bas Ek Dhadak by Jubin and Shreya, and Bawaria by Suvarna Tiwari — all songs were good. But what I noticed is they used BGMs thoda kam use karna chahiye tha bhai. Raw rakhna tha puri film ko. Overall music was decent but ek bhi gaana aisa nahi tha jo mujhe hamesha yaad rahe jaise ki Dhadak ke gaane ab tak yaad hai. Lein Dhadak 2 album se aisa koi nahi tha.
Screenplay
See first of all it wasn’t a love story. I’m repeating this again. More than love, this focuses on caste discrimination and they showed ups and downs greatly. Kaise apna hero marta hai, girta hai, phir wapas uthta hai. Infact I didn’t realise that mass elements honge film mein. There was a scene where Neelesh got bullied but after lying on floor also he rises up like a hero. Wo scene dekhne mein mazza aa gaya.
Aur ek scene tha train wala. Truly a phenomenal performance by Siddhant Chaturvedi. Acting pe bhi baat karte hai ruko. See flaws toh the screenplay mein but phir bhi mazza toh aaya. Kuch scenes the jo easily trim ho sakte hai, phir maine dekha ki 16 cuts are made in this film. This means pehle controversial cheezein thi film mein. This is really wrong. CBFC aisa nahi karti toh hum fully raw film dekhte. Pariyerum Perumal was really a great film. Fully raw film.
Thoda bahut weak pad jaata hai screenplay jab love story wale scenes the and family argument scenes the. Overall itna bura bhi nahi hai. Ek chance zaroor do iss film ko.
Acting and Performances
Triptii and Siddhant you guys are really stars. You definitely deserve a great future ahead. After this film hum Siddhant ko Yudhra ke liye toh maaf kar hi sakte hai. The way Siddhant portrayed Neelesh looked like he was really living that character. Neelesh ke sath hum bhi connect ho jaate hai. Kehte hai na normal tha pehle phir jo gussa aata hai usko, anger, emotion, neutral — he showed all emotions and it was really very very good.
Now talking about Triptii — everyone talks about Animal only. Yeah she was good in that also, but Animal audiences haven’t seen Qala and Bulbbul. Saala re-release ke baad toh Laila Majnu ko bhi chapri bana diya tha. But she owned the screen in Laila Majnu. In Dhadak 2, Triptii reminded me of Laila Majnu. She was truly great. Infact the ending frame of Triptii was so so good. It looked real. I personally liked that. Triptii and Siddhant both delivered their career best performances.
Special mention for Vipin Sharma — a veteran actor like him did a very special role in this film. All the veterans did best, like Saurabh Sachdeva and Zakir Hussain were also part of this film. They did well too. Anubha Fatehpuria also deserves a special mention here. She did many roles in her career but she hardly gets any appreciation. In this film she played role of Neelesh’s mother and we learned so many things from her.
Ab mujhe pata hai kuch log meri baat se agree nahi karenge but Saurabh Sachdeva ki jagah koi aur actor bhi le sakte the makers. He didn’t do justice to his character. Maybe I’m thinking this kyunki maine original film dekhi hai. In that film there was an old man who played the same role and he was really a mad man. Mazza hi aa gaya tha usse dekhne mein. Wo feel mujhe Saurabh Sachdeva ke character mein nahi mila. Overall he was decent.
Gyaan Dunga Ab
It was really good that makers shot whole film at real locations. Real hi the na? Ya jisne bhi set banaya hai it was mind blowing. Sab kuch real lag raha tha. It was great positives of film. Gullyy Boy Yaad aagayi thi jaise jo real locations pr shoot hui thi.
Now The Important Question
Dhadak 2 naam kyu rakha? Kuch aur bhi rakh sakte the. Franchise ke naam pe movie chalana isn’t good. Remake karna hai karo but ismei Dhadak ki koi bhi similarity nahi thi. Dharma hamesha ye cheezein karta hai yaar. Now irritated of this.
Conclusion
A must watch hard hitting caste discrimination love drama film that definitely deserves to be watched. OTT pe bhi dekhoge chalega.
