As Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again are heading for a box office clash this Diwali, anticipation is building among the audience, especially among Kartik Aaryana nd Ajay Devgn fans! In the 112-year history of Indian cinema, we are about to witness an unseen event. Anil Thadani (distributor of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3) and PVRInox (distributor of Singham Again) are going to battle for screen count. This is going to be the biggest clash of all time in Bollywood.

Recent Box Office Clashes
Recently, Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra and Rajkummar Rao starrer Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video clashed this month, but the clash wasn’t up to the mark. Both films opened with single-digit collections on the first day. However, VVKWWV did well, while Jigra underperformed.
Before that, we saw Stree 2 vs Khel Khel Mein vs Vedaa at the box office, but we had a clear winner within 3 days, which was Stree 2. That clash was completely one-sided from the start, so there was nothing epic about it.
In December 2023, we saw Ranbir Kapoor vs Vicky Kaushal at the box office with Animal vs Sam Bahadur. That clash was also one-sided, as the two films were very different both from budget and marketing perspectives. Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal won the clash by a huge margin.
With the upcoming Diwali clash coming soon, we have prepared a list for our audience of some epic and historical clashes in Bollywood –

1. OMG 2 VS Gadar 2 (2023)
Everyone was excited to see Sunny Paaji back, especially in the role of Tara Singh. Gadar 2 marked the comeback of Sunny Deol, and on the same day, OMG 2 was released, marking Akshay Kumar’s return. Both films performed very well at the box office, but in terms of collections, Gadar 2 scored higher than OMG 2.
Gadar 2 Indian Nett Collection: 525 Cr
OMG 2 Indian Nett Collection: 150 Cr

2. Shivaay VS Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)
In 2016, during Diwali, two major films clashed at the box office. On one side, there was Ajay Devgn’s directorial and starring film Shivaay, and on the other side, Karan Johar’s directorial Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM). Cinephiles appreciated the cinematography and VFX in Shivaay, which initially gave it an edge. However, despite this, Shivaay struggled to leave a lasting impression on audiences due to its weak screenplay and slow pacing.
On the other hand, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil faced significant controversies during its release. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) even called for a ban on the film because Pakistani actor Fawad Khan played a prominent role. After the URI attack, there was a push to restrict Pakistani artists from working in Bollywood. Despite all the hurdles, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has remained relevant in pop culture, especially due to its evergreen music album, which continues to be celebrated.
Both films performed well at the box office:
Shivaay Indian Nett Collection: ₹100.33 crore
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Indian Nett Collection: ₹113.9 crore

Son Of Sardaar VS Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012)
Who can forget this epic clash in Bollywood? Just three weeks before the release of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Yash Chopra tragically passed away. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer became his final directorial film, making the clash even more unforgettable. Did You Know? Ajay Devgn filed a case against the distributors, accusing them of favoring Jab Tak Hai Jaan by allocating more shows to it over Son of Sardaar. Despite the controversy, both films performed well at the box office.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan Indian Nett Collection: ₹120.85 Cr
Son of Sardaar Indian Nett Collection: ₹105.03 Cr

Saawariya VS Om Shanti Om (2007)
On one side, it was the debut film of today’s superstar, Saawariya, and on the other, it was King Khan’s Om Shanti Om. Om Shanti Om was the first film at that time to cross over ₹100 crore in box office collection. Meanwhile, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Saawariya struggled to perform at the box office and sadly, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya ended up as a flop.
Saawariya Indian Nett Collection: ₹20.92 Cr
Om Shanti Om Indian Nett Collection: ₹78.17 Cr

Dilwale VS Bajirao Mastani (2015)
It was Christmas 2015 when we saw Sanjay Leela Bhansali vs SRK once again. No doubt that Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale became a hit worldwide, but Bajirao Mastani was the clear winner of this clash. Despite facing many controversies, Bajirao Mastani performed exceptionally well at the box office and became a huge blockbuster. On the other hand, Dilwale was a completely different genre, offering audiences a commercial family love drama, while Bajirao Mastani was an epic historical drama film, which is the intellectual property of Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Bajirao Mastani Indian Nett Collection: 184.2 Cr
Dilwale Indian Nett Collection: 148.72 Cr

Kaabil VS Raees (2017)
Another SRK clash, this time it was Raees vs Kaabil. For the first time, we saw SRK turning into a gangster, while Hrithik Roshan took on the challenging role of a blind man. Both films performed well at the box office, but audiences who prefer story-driven films loved Kaabil much more. Raees was appreciated, but it offered nothing new except SRK’s stellar performance.
Kaabil Indian Nett Collection: 103.84 Cr
Raees Indian Nett Collection: 137.51 Cr

Zero VS KGF (2018)
At one side, it was SRK’s most ambitious project Zero, and on the other side, it was Rocking Star Yash’s pan-Indian film KGF. After watching the trailer of Zero, fans got quite excited, but due to a bad screenplay and story, the movie flopped at the box office. After that, SRK took a long break and made a comeback in 2023 with Pathaan. Whereas, if we talk about KGF, it became a huge blockbuster, and everyone loved the role of Rocky Bhai so much.
KGF Indian Nett Collection: 160.5 Cr
Zero Indian Nett Collection: 90.28 Cr

Dunki Vs Salaar(2023)
Christmas 2023, and it was again an SRK clash. History repeats itself; this time, it was Dunki vs Salaar. SRK vs Prashanth Neel happened again after Zero Vs KGF. Where Dunki was struggling at the box office, everyone thought the Rajkumar Hirani and SRK combo would deliver a masterpiece, but audiences were disappointed. On the other side, Salaar did exceptional business at the box office, though fans felt let down by its slow screenplay. Cinematically, Salaar was a very strong film. At the end, Salaar scored more than Dunki.
Salaar Indian Nett Collection – 404 Cr
Dunki Indian Nett Collection – 212.42 Cr

Don VS Jaan-E-Mann (2006)
Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar vs Shahrukh Khan. At one side, it was Amitabh Bachchan’s 1978 Don remake starring SRK, and on the other side, it was Salman and Akshay starrer Jaanemann. In Jaanemann, we saw Akshay and Salman collaborating for the second time after Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Everyone was quite excited to see this emotional comedy family musical drama film. But Don released on the same day and it was carrying the legacy of the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. Due to that, Jaanemann got flopped at the box office and Don did exceptional business at the box office. Cinephiles who understand cinema know the true value of Jaanemann. From music to story, Jaanemann excels in every department. It was totally way ahead of its time.
Jaan-E-Mann Indian Nett Collection – 25.13 Cr
Don Indian Nett Collection – 50.35 Cr

Now The Final Clash
Lagaan VS Gadar (2001)
Two such iconic films released on a single day. Lagaan was a cinematically very strong film, while Gadar was a commercial massy action masala film. Till date, both films are iconic. Superstars like Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol clashed at the box office. No doubt Gadar did more collections at the box office than Lagaan, but later Lagaan was nominated for the Oscars. Meanwhile, Gadar still holds the same nostalgic value, which made Gadar 2 a huge blockbuster.
Did you know? In the starting days when Gadar was released, the cinema halls were empty, but after some days, all cinema halls were houseful due to word of mouth.
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha Indian Nett Collection – 76.88 Cr
Lagaan Indian Nett Collection – 34.31 Cr
