Dystopia
The concept of the film was Dystopia but they did not put any efforts in creating the world. A 2-minute narration is supposed to give us the overall introduction. At max they showed the rich living in a very advanced video game CGI based futuristic city called Silver City. No backing of how they got so advanced, we are just supposed to accept it. No details of what all they do, the technologies, the economy, source of energy or food. Bas video game city dikha diya bahaut hai. Aur haan, waha mostly foreigners rehte hain.
The poor live beyond a wall but no detailing of their lives either. Source of food and water bhi nahi bataya hai. Last mein satta khel ke ameer ban jate hain par paiso ko karenge kya, kharchenge kaha pata nahi.
And haan, gareebo ki basti mein ek mast chinese restaurant bhi hai jaha badhiya khana kha sakte ho. They are run by chinese men and obviously chinese hain toh martial arts toh ata hi hoga. No logic of who eats there, I mean the poor don’t have money and the rich won’t come there. but Tiger ko free ka khana khana hota hai aur ladna hota hai toh wahi jata hai.
Tiger Shroff On Repeat Mode
Tiger tried acting. He acted cute and innocent initially, before he was trained. Later he turned to be the spoiled rich brat who does not give a fuck. Full harami. So clearly there was a choice made here on how to portray the character and his journey. I’ll acknowledge that.
But he did not do a convincing job. It was bad acting like in any other and I’m sorry but I can’t keep on praising mediocre work. He is not a teenage ki choti choti progress ki tareef karta rahu. This film was same copy-paste concept of any of his other films jaha humesha se body hoti hai aur uchal uchal ke marta hai.
He has a talent. What he can do, only a handful of people can do that in India, let alone in Bollywood. He has the potential to present the best of action films. But he is just choosing one crap project after another and showing us the same kicks and jumps again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again. 1 bar again and again likhne se samajh gaye the na? Bar bar likhne ki zarurat nahi thi na? Waise hi lagta hai Tiger ki har film dekhne par.
Action
Action ke naam pe jo mazak kiya hai kya hi bola jaye. Kriti looks good with nunchuks and that is because she never did that before. Tiger on the other hand did nothing new. MMA ke naam pe Tiger ki repeated kicks hi dikhayi hain mostly. Brothers and Sultan showed better MMA than this film. Arre Liger better thi yar. H.. H.. kalka hakla ke Vijay Deverakonda ne atleast apna part better perform kiya tha.
Pehli baat toh ye ki Tiger sirf foreigners se ladta hai, koi Indian nahi hota. And what i noticed was, everytime Tiger puts an opponent down, it was a kick to the chest. And everytime he knocks out an opponent, it was a kick to the face. Every Single Time. Koi effort hi nahi dala action director ne. Lack of efforts aur kuch nahi bas.
The Training Montage
Bhai training wala part ek aisi cheez hai jisko banane ka mann bhi karta hai aur maza bhi ata hai. Inhone wo bhi itne thakele tareeke se kiya hai kya batau. Ek toh koi gana nahi dhang ka plus koi special baat bhi nahi. Remember Chak Lein De? Aaj bhi feel aa jati hai, that was the highlight of the film.
Brothers’ Anthem, again a great training montage with a great song. Both Akshay and Sid did different styles of training and it was exceyed so well. Same with Sultan. Song mein bhi toh power hona chahiye. Leave all that, Tiger ka hi example le lete hain. Get Ready to Fight from Baaghi. Bhai yaha toh effort dalte, kis baat ka action-entertainer bol rahe ho isko?
Acting
Tiger Shroff – Tried but failed. His body is same before and after the training. Kuch toh dikhao bhai, kuch toh dikhoa. Aur 2070 ke Silver City mein bachpan se pala padha toh tapori accent kaise aya? Kiski choice thi ye, director ki ya actor ki? Kuch bhi dikhate hain yar.
Kriti Sanon – There was not too much for her but she held her ground well. Ek hi action ka proper scene tha. She can act and she does justice to her scenes and that is why people respect her, despite the series of flops she was in. Because the films were not good, but she was always good in her parts. But it’s high time she chooses her projects carefully.
Jamil Khan – A good actor can deliver a good performance in any film anywhere. His part was less but there is one scene, a small monologue where he sets the bar high.
Rahman – Average at best. Koi solid scene likha bhi nahi tha inke liye. Aur andhe kaise hue wo bhi nahi bataya.
Amitabh Bachchan – Dhokha diya bhai. Market toh full kar rahe the lekin special appearance nikla, wo bhi same 2-4 shots bar bar repeat kar diye. Great planning by the team.
John The Englishman – The biggest joke was thi character. Bas ek angrez ko pakad liya aur bola gande gande expression dete rehna puri film mein. He was supposed to be a baddy but you just can’t take this guy seriously.
Dalini – Wo jo dementor ke cloak mein Silver City ka raja dikhaya hai na, haan wahi jiska metal ka ganda sa Tiger hai as pet, wo koi aur nahi khud Tiger hi hai. Aur pata nahi wo insaan hai, robot, hai ya koi super-powered villain hai. Teleport karke aa gaya aur bolta hai bhook nahi lagti, neend nahi ati aur dil bhi nahi hai. Aankhein kaali thi usko dekh ke Tiger ki fatt-ti bhi nahi hai. Abe mera evil-twin samne ayega toh kuch toh react karunga na.
Writing
Bhai Dystopia ka matlab sirf ameer-gareeb nahi hota. Resources ki fight bhi hoti hai. Tiger Shroff MMA fight banani thi toh kahi bhi bana sakte the. Dharavi vs South Bombay bhi kar dete toh story same hi rehti.
World building bas naam ka hai, future ke naam pe bas drones udte rehte hain. Par characters pe keh sakte ho thoda sa dhyan diya hai. Tiger’s journey and twist was decent but so average that I guess all of you would have guessed it coming. Still, it was a nice touch. ‘Ganapath Ala’ ka legend ya Lord Ganapati ka integration bahaut forceful tha. Jaise bas naam ke liye bhagwan ko use kar liya ho. It’s really sad.
VFX
Kya bolu bhai sab kuch toh tumne dekh hi liya hoga trailer mein. Haan usse zyada kuch nahi hai.
Jitne bhi stock footage point out kiye the teaser aur trailer mein, they have either modified them a little, trimmed or removed them. The arena where Tiger fights is green screen and is so bad that you can figure out that Tiger has been pasted there. The difference between a real and vfx scene will be very evident in terms of quality.
Ek baat jo teaser se dimag kharab kar rahi hai. CGI momo kyu dikhana tha? Just why? Tiger ek scene practice nahi kar sakta tha? Choocha ne Fukrey 3 mein popcorn pakda tha na muh se. Spider-Man 1 mein Tobey ne wo tray wala scene real mein kiya tha. Kya ho jata? 100 takes lag jate? thodi practice karni padti? Toh kya? wahi toh kaam hai. Ya hum bas body aur gymnastics ki tareef karne ke liye baithe hain?
In one scene where Kriti is on bike and is being chased by killer drones. They have shown the entire scene from the pov of drones and so they added a frame and filter on the shots. This way they would mask all the bad CGI in that scene. Cost cutting thi ya kaam chori pata nahi, par galati chupane ki ninja technique.
There is one scene where they did not remove the green screen. Tum socho, green screen dikhta hai. Aur ye pass shot pass ho gaya. Bhai isse bada mazak aur kya ho sakta hai. Audience ko bilkul hi bewakoof samajha hua hai. Adipurush ka cousin hai Ganapath vfx ke mamle mein.
Songs
2 songs toh club mein hain. Gaane sunne mein bhi bekar hain aur dekhne mein bhi. Ganapati song end mein ata hai. Aur beech mein 1-2 ate hain lekin koi bhi impactful nahi hai. This film is full of lack of efforts. It’s evident in every minute of the film.
Ganapath Part 2 ??
Agar part 2 shoot kar chuke ho toh kisi ott ko bech do jo best price dede. This is gonna be a disaster so no point in releasing part 2 in theatres. And if you have not shot it yet, then please don’t. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan dono ne October mein disaster de di iss Pooja Entertainment ke andar. Ab toh darr lag raha hai kyuki BMCM se bahaut zyada ummeed hai. We want it to be the best action film yet, mediocre product nahi chahiye.
Verdict
Koi puche toh batana, ki hum stars nahi dete hain. Theatre mein dekhne layak toh hai nahi ye film. Baki Netflix pe ayegi 8 hafte baad. I request you guys ki ek bar dekhna zarur, aur wapas ake ye review se relate karna.
