Samachar This Week – 22/5/24

From developments in Ramayana to Tiger’s respite and Ranveer’s worries, here we are at OCD Times bringing to you, a recap of last week – your weekly dose of Samachar to cover all news, updates and rumours surrounding movies!

Ramayan – No Longer A Trilogy

Reportedly, Ramayana has been reduced to a two part story from a trilogy with an astonishing budget of 100 million dollars (₹835 crores). It will be shot over a period of 350 days and a major chunk of Part 2 will be shot before the release of Part one.

Also, in recent advancements, Hollywood Set Designer Daniel Jennings (known for Spiderman 2, X-Men) has been roped in as well. Bas zyada Hollywood Hollywood ke chakkar mein Indianness mat kho dena.

Some Respite For Tiger Shroff

According to reports, it is Karan Johar to the rescue for Tiger Shroff as they collaborate for a big budget entertainer. However, the genre is still unknown and we hope that it is not action. Reports state that Tiger will be seen playing an unusual role that he hasn’t ever played in his career of 10 years. 

Crisis Continues with Ranveer Singh

The crisis continue for Ranveer Singh and Bollywood as the actor parts ways with Prasanth Verma due to creative differences on their rumoured next ‘Rakshas.’ Ranveer still has Don 3 in his pipeline according to reports and he is also in talks with Aditya Dhar for his next, but there are no shoot timelines set as of now.

Koi Andar Koi Bahar

The much anticipated comic caper, Housefull 5, has further undergone casting developments with Anil Kapoor leaving the movie due to scheduling conflicts. Meanwhile, Arjun Rampal will be seem returning to the Housefull franchise after 14 long years. The house is getting full and we hope the theatres do too!

Highlights of the week

Barring these updates, there has been a lot of developments regarding various other projects as well.

1. Sanjay Dutt leaves Welcome 3 due to changing script and scheduling issues after shooting for 15 days.
   
2. Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar blessed with a baby boy. Named him Vedavid.
   
3. After Ranbir’s Ramayan, a Hanuman spin-off with Sunny Deol is also in the works.
   
4. Kriti Sanon and Sidharth Malhotra in talks for a love story for Maddock Films.
   
5. Anirudh reunites with Shah Rukh Khan for King as the music director of the Sujoy Ghosh directorial.
   
6. Mahesh Babu’s will be cutting down on his public appearances as he will be seen in an avatar which is unlike anything he has done before in SSMB29.
   
7. The trailer of Shankar and Kamal Haasan’s Indian 3 will be attached to Indian 2 as part of the end credits along-with the release date of the third part.
   
8. Bobby Deol to be the antagonist to Saif Ali Khan in Priyadarshan’s Oppam remake.
   
9. Ananya Panday will be seen playing a cameo in Vicky-Tripti-Ammy starrer Bad Newz.
   
10. Reportedly, Pooja Hegde will be playing the female lead in Suriya 44.
    
11. Actor Sathyaraj (Katappa brom Baahubali) , to play the role of PM Narendra Modi in an upcoming biopic.
    
12. Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa gets bigger as Kajal Aggarwal joins the cast of this mega-budget movie.
    
13. Jr.NTR starrer Devara, releases it’s first single titled – Fear Song composed by Anirudh.

Shoots – Kya Shuru Kya Khatam

1. Ajay Devgn and Jackie Shroff wrap up the climax scene of Singham 3 in Kashmir.
   
2. Vicky Kaushal wraps up filming for Chhava.
   
3. Jolly LLB 3 first schedule wrapped in Rajasthan.
   
4. The shooting for NTR-NEEL collaboration tentatively titled ‘Dragon’ will be officially starting from August 2024.

New Releases, Release Dates and Announcements

1. Indian 2 reelase date set as 12 July 2024. Will clash with Akshay’s Sarfira and John’s Vedaa.
   
2. Munjya teaser out. Trailer out on 24 May and film releases on 7th June 2024.
   
3. Chandu Champion trailer releases with largely positive response on social media.
   
4. Panchayat Season 3 trailer out and people are totally excited.
   
5. Blackout teaser out – will be releasing on 7th June 2024 on JioCinema.
   
6. Kalki 2898 AD released the fourth episode of Skratch: Bujji, which will be Prabhas’ vehicle in the movie. The main vehicle will be revealed on 22nd May.
   
7. Harshad Mehta announces the next in Scam series- Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga and the best part is that he will be returning to the director’s chair with this one!
   
8. Pratik Gandhi’s next Dedh Bigha Zameen for which he wrapped up filming in 2021, finally gets a release date. It will release on Jio Cinema on 31st May.
   
9. Thala Ajith’s next titled Good Bad Ugly will be releasing on the occasion of Pongal in 2025.
   
10. Illegal season 3 trailer out – streaming from 29th May on Jio Cinema
    
11. Gullak season 4 trailer out – streaming from 7th June on SonyLiv
    
12. Criminal Justice season 4 coming soon on Hotstar.

Hollywood and other International Samachar

1. Deadpool and Wolverine announce the opening of advance bookings in the USA.
   
2. Ryan Gosling’s Fall Guy released on OTT only 2 weeks after it’s release due to poor theatrical reception.
