His Her-strorical Cannes 2024

India creates history in Cannes 2024 as the Indian film ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT directed by Payal Kapadia wins the Grand Prix. Also, Anasuya Sengupta became the first Indian actress to win the best actor for her movie THE SHAMELESS in the Un Certain Regard category. 

Welcome mein Hera Pheri

Jackie Shroff joins the cast of Welcome To The Jungle after Sanjay Dutt’s exit from the movie. In a weird turn of events, Suniel Shetty will be playing Sanjay Dutt’s role while now and Jackies Shroff will play what Suniel Shetty was playing before. Chya-mayla itni hera pheri?

De De Pyaar Shaitaan De 2

Anil Kapoor has now left the sequel to De De Pyaar De 2 and has prioritised YRF Spy Universe’s War 2. Now R. Madhavan has been signed as his replacement and the Shaitaan Duo will be seen sharing screen space once again in De De Pyaar De 2.

Katappa In Sikandar

Actor Sathyaraj, known for his portrayal of Kattappa in Bahubali and father of Deepika Padukone in Chennai Express, has apparently joined Salman Khan’s Sikandar as the prime antagonist. The movie is gearing up for an Eid 2025 release and according to reports, it’s first look will be released next month as a pre-glimpse.

Highlights of the week

Barring these updates, there has been a lot of developments regarding various other projects as well.

1. Dhadak 2 starting Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri has been officially announced and will be released theatrically on 22nd November 2024.
   
2. Hanuman director Prasanth Verma clarifies that the reports of creative differences between him and Ranveer Singh are exaggerated and they will be giving us a clear picture by next week.
   
3. Ajay Devgn is in talks with the Mission Mangal director Jagan Shakti for a new film that is slated to release in early 2025.
   
4. Salman Khan backs out of the next season of Bigg Boss OTT 3 and prioritises Sikandar over it. Anil Kapoor will be replacing him as the host.
   
5. Laapataa Ladies has crossed Animal in terms of Netflix views with a staggering amount of 13.8 Million Views since it’s debut.
   
6. Richa Chadha to star in a musical comedy titled Pinky Promise which will also be produced by her.
   
7. Saba Azad, Sanya Malhotra and Joju George join Bobby Deol in Anurag Kashyap’s next
   
8. Kartik Aaryan in advanced talks with Junglee Pictures for a romantic comedy titled Jasmine.

Shoots – Kya Shuru Kya Khatam

1. Shoot for the hindi remake of Love Today has begun starring Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor.
   
2. Kajol wraps up the shoot for her next horror thriller titled Maa.
   
3. War 2 is set for an action packed shoot in Kashmir which will kick off in the 2nd or 3rd week of June and will last for 7-8 days.
   
4. Aaryan Khan wraps up filming for his debut directorial Stardom.
   

New Releases, Release Dates and Announcements

1. Maddock Films released Munjya trailer starring Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh.
   
2. Mujya‘s first song Taras featuring Sharvai in a hot avatar is out.
   
3. The Couple Song from Pushpa 2: The Rule has been released today.
   
4. The second song from Indian 2, ‘Dhaaga’ released today.
   
5. The first of the four preludes of Kalki 2898 AD titled ‘Bujji and Bhairava’ will be releasing on Amazon Prime Video on May 31.
   
6. Pan India Movie titled Martin to be released worldwide on 11 October 2024, clashing with Shahid Kapoor’s Deva and Jr Ntr’s Devara.
   
7. Ananya Panday starrer Call Me Bae to stream from 6 Sept on Amazon Prime Video

Hollywood and other International Samachar

1. Hollywood’s disastrous run at the theatres continues with Kingdom of the Plane of the Apes and Mad Max: Furiosa as both movies fail to create any impact at the Box Office.
   
2. Chris Hemsworth receives star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
