“Mujhse Pyaar Karti Ho? Toh Mujhse Dur Raho“
Trailer Overview
Dhadak 2 trailer is another victim of a good film giving away way too much of the plot.

Tripti Dimri
People have been saying very wrong things about Tripti Dimri after Animal, even trolling her, ki “isko toh bas expose karne ke liye lete hain.” People are too quick to judge and comment on others without understanding the actual scenario. Let me tell you some facts.
Animal released in December 2023. Dhadak 2, Bad Newz and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, were all signed, announced or began filming before that. Just that they released after Animal. The ony films she has signed after animal are Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024) and Roemo (2025) opposite Shahid Kapoor, directed by Vishal Bhadwaj.
Most of them would not have watched Laila, Majnu, Bulbbul and Qala, where she was playing the lead since 2018, five years before Animal. People aretoo harsh, judgemental and disrespectful. Actors do not have much choices while building a career, only a few stars at the top have that choice. More on this topic some other time.
As for Dhadak 2, I think she looks fantastic and will deliver an impactfiul performance.

Siddhant Chaturvedi
Same fact of actors not having a choice applies to Siddhant Chaturvedi as well. I first saw him in Inside Edge series where he was fabulous. Then Excel Entertainment cast him in Gully Boy which was his debut in films.
Later he did Bunty Aur Babli 2, Phone Bhooth, Gehraiyaan and Yudhra, all of which were bad films. Only Kho Gaye Hum Kahan was good where he did well but had not much to do.
He is a capable actor and Dhadak 2 is a film where I think he will gain the love and of the audience once again. But if the film does not do well at the box office, I fear people will again judge him by the movie collections and not his work.

Trailer Cut
3 minute ka trailer kaat-te hain toh inko ehsaas nahi hota kya blunder kar rahe hain? Ye jo itna lamba plot dikha dete hain na, yahi 50% audience ka mann ho jata hai ki ott pe ayegi toh dekh lenge. Ab toh leaks bhi itni hone lagi hai kuch log toh khulla bolte hain xyx leak ayega wo dekhunga. Studios need to realize this.
About 1 nimute love love scenes are shown in the trailer. Itna lamba dikhana zaruri hai? Soch ke dekho. This is then followed by Siddhant Chaturvedi getting bullied for his caste. Then he gets beaten for loving Tripti, a girl from upper caste. She wants to be with him but he keeps getting bullied in various ways.
At least two deaths of lower caste boys have been shown. One is thrown out of a balcony, other one gets under a train (Sid is shown crying with his friends beside a railway track). His father and mother are also harassed. The police arrests him at one point. He beats someone in retalliation, probably the same guy from his class in one of the scenes.

Then I think they run away and start living a very simple life when Saurabh Sachdeva is sent to find them. He is either a cop or hired thug. His dialogue with his daughter explains his mindset. And then Siddhant Chaturvedi is shown tied on a railway track.
Puri film toh dikha di. Ab bas fill in the blanks ke liye kitne log theatre jayege? Climax mein first part ki tarah bachega ya marega hi dekhna hai toh ghar pe dekh lenge na log?
Producers, director, and editors need to rethink and get creative in cutting a trailer and marketing of films, if they want them to work. Else, if you are happy with the income coming from non-theatrical rights then great, continue doing the same non-creative low effort work.

Remake Factor
I have no problem with remakes. If I have not seen the original then it is fine. If I have seen the original, then I may avoid the remake, but I will not rant about it.
The only time remakes are criticised, is when they decide to make a remake of a popular film which is watched by most. This means people will not watch it again in theatres, meaning it is bad for business. At the same time, the fanclubs and media want people to praise it liek they are doing a fabulous job. Now that becomes a problem and leads to debates and negativity.
So either make a better remake of a bad film, or remake a less popular film which is not watched by most cinema audience. Avoiding remakes will still be the top choice.

Music
Music of any film enchances the experience. It also helps a lot in marketing the film. Did not feel that in Dhadak 2 trailer. Simple songs honge jo movie mein theek lagenge, bas fir log bhool jayenge. Missed opportunity.

Marketing
I dont’t have much hopes from Dharma in terms of marketing of this film because of their recent approach of previosu films. A few posters came out and trailer dropped 20 days before the release. This is standard. Now the songs will come showing more of the plot, and at max a few interviews and city tours.
July is filled with movies. People will have exhauted their money with Jurassic Park, Superman, Saiyaara, Son of Sardaar 2 and Fantastic Four: First Steps. In August, they would be saving their money for War 2/Coolie and Raksha Bandhan gifts. How many people will be going for this film in the first week of August? Wrong timing of the release.

Final Thoughts
The film looks great. Performance wise I feel the actors will be perfect. The trailer shows that much. But will it work at the box office or not is highly doubtful.
