Understanding The Reviewer
Every reviewer has their own understanding of cinema. They have their own viewpoint of the world, politics, and things in general. They have different intellects, different reasons for reviewing. Some are paid because it’s their job, some are PAID (samosas), some do it because they like it, some do it for fame, some do it for more than one reason listed above.
When you watch a review or read one, understand that you are looking at someone else’s opinion. And you are doing it by choice. If you consistently like what a reviewer has to say, please continue following them. If you consistently don’t like someone, stop following them. No need to be negative about it every time on their posts. And even if you like a reviewer, but don’t relate with them for 1-2 times, it does not mean that they have changed, or this time they are paid, just because this time you feel differently. Understand that each individual is different, and even similar people can have different opinions sometimes. It’s normal.
And there is never a need to abuse or be personal about it. You are a result of millions of years of evolution, the only species on the planet that developed such an advanced brain. ACT LIKE ONE.
Comparison With Welcome To The Jungle and Alpha
“Tujhe Alpha acchi lagi lekin Dhamaal 4 buri lagi, ye ummeed nahi thi tujhse.” I got this reply in one of the comments when someone asked me how was Dhamaal 4. Aisa hi ek comment Welcome To The Jungle se compare kaeke bhi aya tha.
Bhai ek baat samjho. Har film alag hoti hai, har film ka experience alag hota hai. Aur durse reviewers ka mujhe nahi pata, par main bahaut detail mein likhta hu sab. Accha bura sab. Ek film jo mujhe pasand ayi ho uske bare mein bhi negatives likhta hu, aur koi film buri lagi ho uske bhi positive points likhta hu. I never talk blindly and without reason. Ab agar tum padhte nahi ho toh tumhari problem hai wo. Mujhe blame karne ka kya matlab? I’m quite tired of dealing with fools, who just want to fight with everyone on the internet.
Yes, I liked Alpha but that’s a general statement. My review was 3500 words long. Aur bahaut problems point out ki hain usme. I liked it means when I get out of the theatre, its the general feeling I have. Ki theek thak lagi film, ya sar dard hua? Maza aya ya jhel raha tha? Detail ke liye review hota hai, general statement nahi.
Coming To Dhamaal 4
See, I laughed at a lot of scenes. The whole theatre did. But you have to understand that laughing at absurdity does not mean quality. Hum bahaut saare reels pe bhi toh haste hain na. Unme se kuch creators sach mein talented hain, lekin bahaut kuch faltu bhi hota hai na, just mindless. Just because we laugh does not mean it’s quality. And we are talking about professional filmmakers here, not tik tokers and reel creators.
Welcome To The Jungle mein bhi same problem thi. A lot of the things worked, but overall kaafi boring parts bhi the, kaafi gimmicks bhi the. Same goes for Dhamaal 4 but I would rate it worse, because Welcome 3 mein fir bhi kuch creative efforts the.. par Dhamaal 4 mein zyada hi ‘for granted’ le liya audience ko.
Bachchon Ki Film
Aisa laga Live-Action Looney Tunes dekh raha hu. Pata hai na cartoons mein kaisa logic/physics hota hai. Wile E. Coyote agar cliff ke edge pe hai toh cliff toot ke gir gaya, Sylvester agar Hot Air Balloon mein hain toh wo crash ho gaya, kabhi koi latak gaya, kabhi koi gir gaya, kabhi kaante chubh gaye, kabhi bhala ghus gaya. Jo jo hum cartoons mein dekhte hain har cheez ka scene bana diya real mein.
Ab ispe hasi toh ayegi. Par kya isko hum quality film bolenge?
What Is Quality Film
Dekho koi bahaut zyada gyaan ki zarurat nahi hai yaha. Original Welcome aur Dhamaal ko hi le lete hain. Aaj agar mujhe koi Welcome aur Dhamaal ke first parts ko review karne kahega toh I don’t think mere pass kuch bhi hoga criticize karne ke liye. The fact that even after 2 decades the films have such high repeat value, tells us what quality is.
- Those films were originals. They did not rely on nostalgia or sequel factors to get the audience interested.
- They had original songs. They did not have to rely on remakes to sell music rights.
- They had original characters, which were unique themselves.
- They had original plot, where different characters were put in a particular situation.
- The comedy came from characters and their interactions in weird situations. They had a natural flow. Not like today, where everything is so loud and screaming, “Dekho dekho punch mara maine, Haso!!”
It’s fine if you liked Dhamaal 4 and Welcome To The Jungle. Or if you liked one and did not like the other. It’s fine. I laughed a lot in both of them. But just tell me, 10 years down the line do you think they will have the same repeat value like the originals? Or will people remember these comedy scenes? Maybe one or two things, but originals ki legacy match karenge?
Complaint ya criticism isliye bhi hota hai, kyuki ajkal low effort wali cheezo ko bada bata ke becha ja raha hai. Agar ye dono films ka naam kuch aur hota, toh lagta hai apko ki ye films chal jati? Bilkul nahi chalti ye producers ko khud pata hai. Sabko sequel banana hai, lekin kahi koi kahani actually continue nahi hoti. Isliye toh ye sab karke apko bewakoof bana rahe hain. Aur aap khushi khushi ban rahe ho. Aur dusro se lad bhi rahe ho.
What Actually Works
Acting – If you have any sense of filmmaking, you can easily notice that it’s only the acting that is making the scenes work. And that is the talent of the actors. Not director, not writer, just the actors. And there are many films in Bollywood where the film is pathetic, the writing is from Whatsapp Jokes, yet you laugh a lot. This only happens because the actors are so talented that they are able to sell even the most boring lines very well. Apart from Welcome 3 and Dhamaal 4, 2 films I can think of right now are Golmaal 3 and Entertainment.
Acting
Adi-Manav
Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaaferi are supremely talented and everybody knows that. All their scenes are funny, thought he writing could have been better. Dhamaal 1 se yahi hain jo constant hain, baki sab badal gaye. Baman gaya, Pappa ji gaye, Inspector Kabir gaya, Roy gaya. All characters changed but Adi-Manav ka replacement nahi dhund paye.
Riteish Deshmukh
Another great comedic actor. Itni bekar bekar lines itni sahi boli hai Riteish ne kya batau. He makes his scenes work amazingly.
Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Mishra
Now this is something many might not understand. All scenes of Ajay Devgn were very poorly written and were the worst. The only saving grace was Sanjay Mishra’s one-liners.I don’t know how many of them were actually written and how many Sanjay Mishra improvised himself. But if you remove him from the scene, those scenes with Ajay Devgn alone are all flat. Apko jo bhi hasi ati hai Sanjay Mishra ke remark pehi ati hai. He is a genius. I don’t blame Ajay Devgn here. Writing is the problem.
Anjali Anand
Bas fat jokes ke liye rakha inko. Welcome To The Jungle mein bhi same tha. Kiku Sharda ko bas fat jokes ke liye rakha tha. I’m not being woke here. I don’t have any problem with fat jokes. I don’t see jokes as bodyshaming or offensive. What I’m trying to say here is, ek insaan ka motapa hi uski puri personality nahi hoti na. Aur bhi kuch acchi, kuch buri baatein hongi uss insaan mein. koi talent, koi adat, kuch toh hoga jo ek normal insaan mein hota hai. SIRF MOTA HONA can’t be the ONLY factor that defines an individual, right?
Anjali Anand was in Dabba Cartel also, waha unko role mast tha. There are 2 kids in Dhamaal 4, one of them is fat. Uspe bhi end tak fat jokes use kiye.
Ravi Kishan and Upendra Limaye
Aur hone chahiye tha. Felt quite underutilized. Overall saaf dikh raha tha bahaut basic plot hai aur zyada effort nahi dala hai. Most comedy is just Looney Tunes types physical comedy. And Ajay Devgn toh ab full AI filmmaking ko support kar rahe hain. Kya pata ye plot bhi AI ka likha hi ho. Wahi quality lag rahi thi.
Brand Integration
Not a complaint, just observation.
- MG car ka integration. Ek feature dikhaya hai ki key na ho toh mobile app se bhi start ho jati hai. Don’t know how true that is.
- Esha Gupta ek scene mein baccho ke liye snacks leke ati hai. Aisa lagta hai dukan se stand utha ke le ayi, jisse naam bada-bada dikhe, lol.
- Last mein khazana bharne ke liye Kitchen King ki branded bori (sack) dikhate hain.
Aur koi tha kya? Miss ho gaya ho toh batana.
List of Gimmicks
Zyada detail mein nahi jaunga coz pehle bahaut baar details discuss kar chuka hu.
- Songs – Gulabi Saari aur Chatni remakes, coz why not, music right bechne hain. Mandatory Guru Randhawa ka Punjabi gana coz wo bhi toh zaruri hai. Aur ek forgettable Paisa Lao on the tunes of Bella Ciao. Spanish folk song ahi toh uski tune pe gana banana copy nahi hua, lekin forgettable song hai.
- Zabardasti ka “Ye toh Dhamaal 1 mein tha,” “Tu Total Dhamaal mein nahi thi na,” ye sab dal ke nostalgia ki yaad dilana. Ye bhi template hai ajkal, maine kayu movies mein point out kiya hai.
- Animals – Wahi mere Looney Tunes wali baat ka extension hai ye. Ek film mein kitne animals dikhne hain comedy ke liye? Octopus, snake, crocodile, dolphins. Itne toh Welcome To The Jungle ke jungle mein nahi the :p
- AI – They showed Satish Kaushik and Jackie Shroff in AI-generated scenes in the opening. Waise ye karna koi galat baat nahi hai par jab puri film gimmicks se bhari ho toh ye bhi gimmick hi lagta hai. It did not serve any purpose to be honest. Khazane ki opening dene ke liye 10 aur tareeke dikhaye ja sakte the.
- Religion Ka Tadka – Shri Ram aur Hanuman ka reference aur song dalne ka koi sense tha uss scene mein? Sahi se use karo toh sab accha lagta hai, lekin zabardasti ghusao toh dikhta hai.
- KUCH BHI – I myself say, comedy movies mein logic mat expect karo but yar usko ek comedic sense se toh dikhao. Wo kya tha end mein cave tootne lagta hai.. ek toh scene kheech diya itna, khatam hi nahi ho raha hai. Riteish, Anjaliko utha ke kood raha hai, Ajay baccho ko iss paar se uss paar fek raha hai.. bahaut kuch toh bas zabardasti ka kuch bhi chal rha tha film mein. Dhamaal 1 ki absurdity mein bhi kaafi sense tha.
Verdict
Yar dekho bahaut logon ko pasand aa rahi hai, bahaut logon ko pasand nahi aa rahi hai. Kisi ko Welcome To The Jungle se better lagi, kisi ko usse bhi bakwas. Mujhe dono mein hasi ayi par Dhamaal 4 mein mujhe bahaut low-effort work laga.
Bollywood ne in general quality itni zyada gira di hai ki zara sa kuch theek thak ata hai toh logon ko lagta hai masterpiece aa gaya. Chalo jo lagta hai wo unka personal opinion hai, but jo ek dusre se ladte hain jo gaali dete hain wo bahaut ghatiya behaviour lagta hai.
So I won’t say if you should go to the theatre to watch or not. Take a call yourself. Watch the trailer and if you like it you can go. The trailer is not misleading.

Aur haan.. end mein Dhamaal 5 announce kardi, kyuki low effort laga ke free ka paisa aa raha hai toh dikkat kya hai?
