Dhurandhar first look is banger! Maza aa gaya. Lekin ab thoda technical honge, theek hai? Wahi breakdown, analysis and stuff. Aa jao.
Ranveer Singh
I’m sure mere jaise bahuat logon ka first thought hoga ki Khilji jaisa dikh raha hai. Big muscular body, long hair, and beard. Even the intensity. He is calm, silent and quite intense.
He was always a good actor; every sane person knows that. We will surely experience that again on the big screen.
The Cast
Cast ko lekar toh sab humesha se hi excited the. Jab bhi koi post banaya and in 5 ki pics lagai har bar comments ate the cast ko like.
Apart from being great actors, the good thing is that everyone has got a distinct look. Looks matter a lot in films as we get tired of seeing the same actor in the same look film after film. Sanjay Dutt I would say looks the least different, but still his beard a little longer and dense than usual.
He is doing multiple films (har teesri south film mein toh villain hote hain), so I think they could not do major changes (same problem is with Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar), but still they did what they could. Acting wise all of them look terrific.
The Cut
The opening was fantastic. Back and side shots of Ranveer Singh with the voiceover of R Madhavan set the tone beautifully. I liked the use of music. They edited punches and gunshots on beats, which always look good.
While the teaser cut was very well edited, it was unnecessarily long. They did not need to show this much. Not saying they revealed the plot, but as it was quite long, they showed multiple shots of the same sequence. Beech ka major chunk hataya ja sakta tha.
Overall it was very impactful. Everybody is talking about it. That is how a film should present itself, with a bang!
Brutality
The beating and killings are quite brutal. Not talking about the guns and explosions. In one shot a guy is buturing someone. In another shot Akshaye Khanna ki smashing the head of a man with a big stone. I paused and checked, they are showing the head exploding, wo fast cuts mein maybe apko pata nahi chala hoga.
In one scene Ranveer is breaking the necks of two people with the sutter of a shop. And in general bhi kaafi maar-peet, goli bari, khoo kharaba hai. Please Jio and B62 Studios, ‘A’ rating ke liye jana. ‘U/A’ ke chakkar mein toe down mat kar dena.
Music
Not a big fan of Punjabi music in Hindi films. But not a hater either. I love when they do it in a good way. I liked the fusion of Punjabi and English. Ye thoda kam hi sunne milta hai. Ya main Punjabi kam sunta hu toh maybe mujhe pata nahi. But I liked it. Thoda different laga. Last Money Man ke trailer mein suna the Punjabi-English fusion.
Nomenclature
Naam se pehchan hoti hai lekin naam pe koi tikna hi nahi chahta ajkal. Pichle saal tak special banne ke chakkar mein teaser ko naye naye naam diye ja rahe the. Jawan and Vettaiyan teasers were caller Prevue, Tiger called it Tiger Ka Message, UI called it Warner, and Baby John called it Taster Cut.
Iss saal Sikandar ne Teaser bolke Announcement video dikha di. Housefull 5 ne bhi same kiya, Teaser bolke bas Cast Announcement dikha di. Isi hafte Sarzameen ne Announcement bolke teaser dikha diya aur aaj Ranveer Singh ke birthday par, First Look bolke teaser dikha diya. Wo jo starting ke 50 seconds they, bas wahi dikhate toh usko First Look bolte.
Main bas ye keh raha naam aur kaam thoda match kare toh accha hai. Waise wo special names bhi acche hi lag rahe the par sab karne lagenge toh common ho jayega.
Release Date
So Dhurandhar is clashing with Prabhas’ The Raja Saab on 5 December 2025. Not a good choice as per many people. Aram se agle saal aa sakte the.
Shahid’d Kapoor’s film with Vishal Bhardwaj was also set to release on the same date, but now we hear that it get delayed to next year. Dhurandhar ko bhi delay kar lena chahiye. What do you think?
Future Marketing
The standard complain or request every single time to the makers is – please do not show a lot of footage, please do not reveal the whole plot in the name of marketing.
Some genius in these studios always tells the makers to do long trailer and all the template marketing because they think it excites the audience. What they don’t realize, is that it kills the excitement. It kills the watching experience. So when the audience does not enjoy the films, the reviews and word or mouth are also not very positive.
Sab kuch juda hua hai, plot reveal ki dor se. It’s high time the producers understand this.
After such a long teaser of Dhurandhar, I really don’t wanna watch any trailer. Make short promos of character intros, and fine new ways to excite people “for the film,” not the stars. Stars apna kaam kar denge hashtags mein aur film mein. Don’t force them down our throats. Aditya Dhar ki film aur studio dono pe bahaut bharosa hai. Please be unique in marketing. Or better, get me on board 😉
Sara Arjun
Age gap kuch zyada nahi hai? People have been complaining about these since a long time. Sara is 20 now and Ranveer turns 40 today. Means an age gap of 20 years. This has been even more in films such as Sikandar, where the age gap between Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna was 30 years.
Bat sirf 20 ya 30 yesrs gap ki nahi hai, Sara Arjun at 20 is way too young to be romancing Ranveer who is 40. I fully understand ki bas acting hai, kaam hai, so uss nazar se dekho. But thoda odd toh lagta hai dekhne mein bhi na.
Final Thoughts
Overall toh mast hai. As such koi complain nahi. Bas marketing mein sab kuch mat dikha dena, aur ‘A’ rating ka aim karna. Film solid lag rahi hai. Maza ayega!
