2025 is all set to deliver a complete package of films. From a period drama like Chhava to an action thriller like War 2, from a comedy courtroom drama like Jolly LLB 3 to a horror-comedy like Thama, we have a range of genres covered this year. We have curated a special list for our readers at OCD Times, of the films that we are excited about the most!

So, in no particular order, here we go –

1. War 2

Director – Ayan Mukherji
Produced by – YRF
Release Date – Independence Day 2025

No doubt, War 2 is the most anticipated film of this year. After the first look of Hrithik, which was shown in Tiger 3, audiences are quite excited to see the film. As per recent reports, Jr. NTR is playing the antagonist in War 2. If this happens, theatres are going to turn into stadiums for sure. Fans have high hopes from both stars.

2. Chhaava

Director – Laxman Utekar
Produced by – Maddock Films
Release Date – 14th February 2025

An unseen avatar of Vicky Kaushal is coming this year in Chhaava, the story of Chatrapathi Sambhaji Maharaj. The film was initially scheduled for release on 6th December but to avoid a clash with Pushpa 2, the makers decided to postpone it. Chhaava is now all set to release in February 2025

3. Kantara A Legend – Chapter 1Action Queens

Director – Risabh Shetty
Produced by – Hombale Films
Release Date – 2nd October 2025

After the humongous success of Kantara, the makers are back with Kantara A Legend – Chapter 1. This will serve as a prequel to Kantara (2022). The first look, already out on YouTube, has received an amazing response from audiences and fans. Fans are praising Rishabh Shetty a lot for his transformation.

4. Sikandar

Director – AR Murugadoss
Produced by – Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment
Release Date – Eid 2025

Everyone is eagerly waiting for Salman Khan’s comeback. The teaser of Sikandar is out now, and fans are loving it so much that the teaser got 48 million views in just 24 hours when it was released. The AR Murugadoss directorial is going to be an action-packed ride, which will feature Salman in a massy and stylish avatar.

5. Jolly LLB 3

Director – Subash Kapoor
Produced by – Star Studios
Release Date – 11th April 2025

Jolly LLB is one of the most loved comic franchises in Bollywood. This time, we are going to see Arshad Warsi vs Akshay Kumar in the same frame, Jolly vs Jolly. Jolly LLB 3 is directed by the same director, Subash Kapoor, who directed the previous two installments of this franchise. Once again, we will see Saurabh Shukla as the judge. It is going to be an out-and-out comedy film.

6. Housefull 5

Director – Tarun Mansukhani
Produced by – Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment
Release Date – 6 June 2025

Housefull 5 is one of the most anticipated films of this year, being the 5th installment in the Housefull franchise. With a big cast, grand sets, and multiple shooting locations, the makers are promising a great round of laughter this time.

7. Toxic

Director – Geethu Mohandas
Produced by – Venkat K Narayana and Yash
Release Date – December 2025

Everyone is quite excited to see what Yash will do after KGF. Toxic is going to be a pan-Indian film made on a grand scale. Yash has changed his look for the film, and it will feature stars like Yash, Kiara Advani, Akshay Oberoi, and others.

8. Alpha

Director – Aditya Rawail
Produced by – YRF
Release Date – Christmas 2025

Alpha is set to be the first-ever female-led spy action thriller in the YRF Spy Universe. There are reports that Kabir (Hrithik) from War will have a cameo in Alpha. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh will be playing the leading roles, while Bobby Deol will play the antagonist.”

9. Thama

Director – Aditya Sarpotdar
Produced by – Maddock Films
Release Date – Diwali 2025

The upcoming horror-comedy film in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) features Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna as vampires. Co-stars Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a negative role. The shooting of the film began just 10 days ago. Maddock Films has also unveiled the slate of their upcoming releases in the universe, consisting of new original movies and and sequels.

10.Dhurandhar

Director – Aditya Dhar
Produced by – Jio Studios and B62 Studios
Release Date – TBA

Durandhar is the next directorial venture of Aditya Dhar, starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and others. With such a talented star cast, everyone is expecting a great theatrical experience from the makers. However, the plot details have not been revealed yet.

11. Sitaare Zameen Par

Director –  R. S. Prasanna
Produced by – Aamir Khan Productions            
Release Date – TBA

Sitaare Zameen Par is the Indian adaptation of the Spanish film Champions (2018), and it serves as a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par (2007). The film stars Aamir Khan and Genelia in leading roles. The shooting of the film has been wrapped, and it was initially set to release on Christmas 2024. However, due to post-production work, the release has been delayed and a new date will be announced soon.

12. Baaghi 4

Director –  A. Harsha
Produced by – Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment            
Release Date – 5 September 2025

The fourth installment of the Baaghi franchise is coming, with Tiger Shroff returning as Ronnie. This time, Ronnie will go brutal, and Sanjay Dutt will be playing the role of the antagonist. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has stated that this will be the biggest film of the Baaghi franchise ever. Co-stars Sonam Bajwa and Harnaaz Sandhu.

13. Raid 2

Director – Raj Kumar Gupta
Produced by – T- Series
Release Date – 1st May 2025

After the grand success of Raid (2019), Ajay Devgn is back with Raid 2. The shooting of the film was completed a long time ago, but the makers were struggling to find suitable dates, which led to the delay. The film was initially supposed to release in December 2024, but it is now confirmed that Raid 2 will be releasing in 2025.

14. Coolie

Director – Lokesh Kanagaraj
Produced by – Sun Pictures
Release Date – TBA

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s is coming with Rajinikanth starrer Coolie which is a killer combo for sure. The title announcement video was superb and since then we cannot wait to see what the director is cooking. It is still not clear if the film is in the Loki Universe or not, but the cast is surely something to look forward to along with Thalaiva. Co-stars Upendra, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir and Aamir Khan in a cameo.

15. Badass Ravikumar

Director – Himesh Reshammiya
Produced by – Himesh Reshammiya
Release Date – 7th February 2025

Last but not the least, Badass Ravikumar is set to be the biggest action entertainer of this year, as per the makers. The film serves as a spin-off to The Xpose (2014). The motion poster of the movie has been released, featuring Himesh Reshammiya in an 80’s vintage look for his character. The movie, which was announced two years ago, is finally hitting theatres this year.

So this was our list. Then there are movies that are not announced, some Hollywood releases, and some web series.
