Initially, when the film was announced, ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’ was going to star Vicky Kaushal as the lead. The pre-production had also begun but the makers hit many roadblocks due to the pandemic. The producer, Ronnie Screwvala suffered monetary losses during the pre-production stage itself. Then we heard that the film was shelved.
Then Jio Studios stepped in and breathed new life into the project.
However, Jio Studios and director Aditya Dhar were not on the same page over Vicky’s inclusion. While Aditya wanted Vicky, Jio Studios wasn’t confident about having him on board. They weren’t sure if the film would make sufficient profits equivalent to the huge investment that they would pump in. They wanted a bigger star, with more audience pull to recover the investments into the project. And then there was silence for a few months.
Until recently, when we heard the Ranveer Singh was in talks to play the lead in the film.
Not even a day had passed, and the internet started buzzing again with different news. An exclusive report by ETimes mentioned that Ranveer is out of contention for this film.
Now, Allu Arjun and Jr NTR are the two names on the table for the film. If all goes well, either of the two will get in.
As for the female lead. Earlier reports mentioned that it was going to be Sara Ali Khan. But after Jio Studio stepped in, the buzz was for Samantha Ruth Prabhu. However, there has been no official announcement on that yet.
