“Tujhe Meri Wife Se Kaise Pyaar Ho Jata Hai?“
Spoiler Warning
This Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari review will be full of spoilers, so skip to the last paragraph if you haven’t seen the film and are only looking for the verdict. Kyuki, “Mohabbat Par Nahi Hai Kisi Ka Kabu, Pak Chika Pak, Raja Babu.”

The Leads
Varun Dhawan – The biggest complaint from Varun is that he is not evolving. It is the same Main Tera Hero type acting that he has been doing on repeat. After Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, we are going to have Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, by David Dhawan. Aap imagine karlo kya hoga (Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2, Coolie No. 1). People like Varun Dhawan and he has done good roles like in Badlapur, October and even Bhediya in MHCU. But he needs to evolve.
Putting the complaint aside, Varun does possess a certain charm and he sells the scenes in his signature style. Even though we have seen this style of acting so many times, I would admit that he does it very well. You will like him in this film for sure.
Janhvi Kapoor – If we talk about evolving, you can actually see Janhvi evolving. Not as much as an actor should, not like many talented actors who are already doing superb on ott, but she is taking baby steps and doing something or the other every time. Her film choices are also diverse. Wish producers would give this much chance to outsiders to experiment, practice and evolve through films.
Again, putting the complaint aside, I liked her in the film. There was a character which required a certain kind of acting and she did her part well. Weather it was comedy scenes or emotional, she looked convincing. Won’t say she was mind blowing, but she was definitely not bad. She looked gorgeous with all the designer clothes and stuff, signature Dharma style.

The Parallel Leads
Sanya Malhotra – Every one knows she is supremely talented. Even if she has no dialogues in a scene, just from expressions you can understand a lot about her character and emotion in a scene. She obviously had lesser scenes and screen time than Varun and Janhvi (because the writing of the character was like that), but I have only appreciation for her.
Rohit Saraf – He had even less scenes than Sanya I felt. Have not seen much of his work to know how talented he is. Just Ishq Vishk Rebound (which was pathetic) and SSKTK. To me it felt he was popular because of his good looks and female fan-base like Kartik Aaryan. I still need to see great performance by him. Kuch ho aisa jo mujhe dekhna chahiye toh comments mein batana.
He had less number of important scenes but my most favourite was the one where they were crawling at night after the Holi song. Wo bahaut funny scene tha and there Rohit was fantastic. I think he owned the scene there. Uske alawa writing did not provide him much to do. But he did well overall.

Abhinav Sharma and Maniesh Paul
Khel gaye bhai. Ye dono best the puri film mein. Maniesh Paul (he plays Kuku) is such a good actor. Ek ek dialogue pe hasi ati hai. Hasi nahi toh jo bhi intention hai scene ka he sells it amazingly. Abhinav Sharma as Bantu (Hero Ka Dost), was also very good. Ye hero ke dost humesha itne funny kyu hote hain? Writing template hota hai ye, ya talent zyada hota hai? Ya dono?
Bantu and Kuku ka apna hi chalta rehte hain puri film mein aur maza ata hai. There were a few other actors too who had screen time but not much to do. Like Akshaye Oberoi.

Cameos
Karan Johar and Prajakta Koli had cameos in the film. Both were nice.
Karan did not shy away from showing how celebs behave when they perform or become a guest at weddings. Dulha-Dulhan ka naam bhi nahi jante, rishtedaro ko nahi jante, aur kehte hain bachpan se jante hain, family friends hain. Ajkal reality khud hi dikha dete hain, nahi? Showtime series ho ya The Bads of Bollywood. Now this film, and many more such small scenes are there in many films and series.

Audience Reaction
I went on 2 October itself with family (haan review likhne mein late kar diya), and the malls were quite empty. My theatre was half full. The audience was having fun, saare jokes pe hass rahe the. My family also liked the film, wo toh ab rarely theatre jate hain, kuch pasand nahi ata ab unko. Pre-pandemic toh bahaut films dekha karte the. Ye neutral si film lag rahi thi, toh main le gaya. They went with zero expectations and liked the film.
So this is also a proof that the film is not bad. Proof isliye bol raha hu kyuki main jo likhta hu koi na koi toh disagree karta hi hai. But jab 70-90% log khush hokar bahar niklein toh aap keh sakte ho film acchi hai, even if apko acchi na lage. Coz yes, you may sometimes not like a popular film and sometimes like a not so good film. Ye toh sabke sath hota hai.
Just trying to say ki don’t label this film based on the actors involved, or the studio/producer involved. Kuch log apna fixed mindset bana lete hain. Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is not a bad film at all.

Music
Nah, did not work for me. Koi bhi song memorable nahi hai. Kisi ke lyrics aap baad mein nahi gungunoage. Panwadi song is still good, but not too much. The songs were picturized very well, though. Beautifully shot. Gaano mein wo maza nahi tha jo pehle hua karta tha. Kisi aur ko chhodo Dharma Productions ke hi gaane kitne acche hua karte the, aaj bhi playlists mein rehte hain.
Too tired of the remake virus. If Remake Songs is Corona, the Dharma is China. Baki studios ek bar ko na bhi karein remake gaane, Dharma toh karega hi karega. Pata nahi kya obsession hai.

Writing and Direction
I liked Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya but that was 10 years back. Aaj 11 saal baad bhi wahi dikhaoge toh kaise chalega? Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya was way too good. Usme depth lagi thi, aisa laga tha evolve hue hain thoda sa from the first part. Maza bhi zyada aya tha, songs bhi enjoyable the. Lekin Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari mein aisa nahi laga ki level uop kiya hai. 8 saal baad aya ye third part aur usi level ki film lagi.
Shashank Khaitan ki hi hain ye teeno films. He did Dhadak in 2018 which was average at best, and Govinda Naam Mera in 2022 which was crap. He needs to evolve. Usi level ka cinema bar bar banye ja rahe hain sirji.
While I agree that Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is not bad, its not great either. Writing was quite basic. It felt like they had subplots for other characters like the family members, but everything was on the surface level. they never go deeper. A few useless scenes of Varun-Janhvi could have been scrapped to give weightage to other characters. For example the story of Akshaye Oberoi and his wife.
Har film mein ajkal aisa hi feel hota hai. Jaha deep jana chahiye waha surface level pe touch karke chhod dete hain. why are we not evolving in cinema? Ek rom-com bhi writing-wise brilliant ho sakti hai.

Influencers and Recreating Reels
This is what I had written in my trailer review.
Ek ye naya start ho gaya hai influencers ko film mein lena as Hero Ka Dost. You guys must have seen reels of Karan (focusedindian), Neel (just_neel_things) and their friends on instagram. All of them are super talaneted. Their one reel was so viral, even Arijit spoke about it in a podcast. Here is the link. Usi reel ka recreation kar diya hai inhone film mein. I don’t think it is such a great idea in 2025. Hume cinema dekhna hai, compilation of gimmicks nahi.
Now coming to the actual film review; this scene was removed from the film. I don’t know why, but trailer mein dikhaya and film mein nahi. Iske alawa film mein Karan and Neel 2-3 jagah dikhte hain bas background mein, without any dialogue and reason for being there. Ye scene hatane ke wajah se wo bas junior artist banke reh gaye. Matlab unki jagah koi bhi random ladke khade rehte toh hero ke dost lagte.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Dulhaniya
Again, this part is what I wrote in the trailer review. Keeping it as it is.
You guys know na, ki Saiyaara was written as Aashiqui 3 but later Vishesh Films and Tseries were not on good terms so Mohit Suri went to Yrf. Dekhoge toh same pattern hai Aashiqui franchise ka, young couple, newcomers, music and love story. Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Ka bhi kuch waisa hi hai.
I don’t know how many of you remember this, but news ayi thi ki Shashank Khaitan is working on the third part of Dulhaniya series. Fir news ayi ki Alia Bhatt will not be the part of this film, and Janhvi will be taken instead. People were furious, both the Dulhaniya films had been fun, plus people really like Varun-Alia (Varia as they say).
After this backlash Dharma put out a post that no such film as Dulhaniya 3 is being made. Fir kuch tim baad news ati hai ki Varun and Janhvi ke sath film ban rahi hai kiska naam hai, Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari. OMG, public toh bewakoof hai unko samajh hi nahi ayega apne kya game khele hai :p
Dekho title mein bhi wahi pattern hai, Humpti Sharma Ki – Sunny Sanskari Ki. Bas Dulhaniya naam rakhte toh public outrage ho hi chuka tha, toh Dulhaniya ki jagah character ka naam dal diya, Tulsi Kumari. Socha Khichdi ke Himanshu jaise ‘Kisi Ko Pata Nahi Chalega’. Film bhi dekho toh Shaadi-Dulha-Dulhan-Love Story hai. Wahi theme, wahi title.

Wahiyat Title Problem
Ab main ek real-life example batata hu aap relate karoge.
Bhai ek baat batao, itna lamba aur ghatiya naam kyu rakhte ho ki kisi ko batane mein problem ho? Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, iske alawa kuch nahi tha film mein aisa jo title ban sakta tha?
Jab mere ghar wale theatre ja rahe the aur theatre se wapas aa rahe the, phone pe rishtedaro se ya dosto se baat karna normal bat hai. Unko bata rahe hain ki shopping, lunch aur film dekhne ja rahe hain. Samne wal puch raha hai kaunsi film, aur mere ghar walo se pura naam nahi bol ja raha, tukdo tukdo mein bol rahe hain. Fir sunne wala bhi ‘hein hein’ kar raha hai.
Ek phone call nahi hui thi, din bhar mein kayi calls ho gayi thi alag alag family members ki. So repeatedly, everyone was having the same problem. Sunne wala bhi naam sunke judge karne lagta hai ki kya dekhne gaya hai. Aisa hua tha Teri Baato Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya ke time. I really loved that film. Lekin jisko bhi naam bataya wo naam sunke hi mujhe judge karne laga. Koi sar-pair hai iss title ka?
And I’m pretty sure aap logon ke sath bhi ye problem zarur hui hogi, har uss film ke sath jiska itna lamba aur bekar title hai. Abhi toh aur bhi release hone wale hain – Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling, Main Tera Tu Meri Tu Meri Main Tera. Ye wala adhe pe bhi khatam kar sakte the, par nahi. Cringe banaye bina mann nahi manta inka.

Verdict
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is nice, the film is fun. It is neither cringe or boring. You can definitely watch it if you like the trailer or have the time and money, as there is no big film til Thamma on Diwali. I’ll just say that the film does not offer anything too unique or mindblowing in terms of cinema. Ek acchi light-hearted timepass film hai jo family ke sath bhi dekh sakte ho.
