All these years, we have known Rohit Shetty for providing wholesome and massy entertainment to us. No matter how over the top they may be, the people loved the Cop Universe, the first ever Cinematic Universe of India.
But behind all that entertainment, Rohit Shetty created a world of mistakes by hiring the same person to play different characters in different movies and he did it several times. Or as some believe, he just loves his cast and crew so much that he works with them every time.
However, as it is a Universe (started by the MCU), seeing the same person in different places means something. Even if it is a Multiverse, it means something. But not here, not in Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe. Let’s check out all of them!
1. Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kareena was the leading lady in Singham Returns, where she replaced Kajal Aggarwal. However, with the supposed entry of Chulbul Pandey in the post credit scene of Singham Again, there would be some obvious questions raised as she was also seen dancing with Chulbul Pandey in a dance number in Dabangg 2.
2. Prakash Raj
Having played the iconic Jaykant Shikre in the first Singham movie, the character’s name has been etched in history as one of the best Hindi film antagonist ever. However, agaiin, due to the entry of Salman Khan’s Chulbul Pandey in the post credits of Singham Again, more loopholes have been formulated as Prakash Raj’s character was dead in Singham (2011) and the same actor was seen again as the antagonist in Dabangg 2 (2012).
3. Sonu Sood
Another confusion due to Chulbul’s entry in the cop universe! Sonu Sood was seen as the antagonist in the first part of the Dabangg franchise were he died in the climax. However, the actor was even seen as the antagonist in the 2018 movie Simmba of the cop universe, where he was again, pronounced dead.
4. Anupam Kher
One more irregularity due to the Dabangg-Singham crossover! Anupam Kher was seen in the firsst Dabangg movie playing the role of Dayal Babu in 2010. Kher was later also seen in Singham Returns playong the role of Guruji in Singham Returns.
5. Mahesh Manjrekar
At this point, only establishing Salman’s Chulbul Pandey that will be seen in Singham Again to be a completely different variant from the OG Chulbul! Mahesh Manjrekar played the role of Sonakshi Sinha’s (Rajjo) father in the first Dabangg movie. Manjrekar was also played the role of Deputy CM in Singham Returns.
6. Amrit Pal Singh
Possible one of the most talked about loopholes from Shetty Cinematic Universe, Singh was first seen in Simmba as the brother of Sonu Sood, who by the way, was shown as a r*pist in the movie. The same actor was seen as a member of the police force in Sooryavanshi. This casting was done way after the universe was confirmed and makes us question- does Shetty really know the meaning of a cinematic universe?
7. Vaidehi Parshurami
You might know this pretty face from Simmba as Aakruti Dave who died by the hands of some criminals in the film. In Shetty’s web series Indian Police Force, Rohit made her comeback as Nafeesa, wife of India’s most wanted terrorist who was convicted of killing 515 people in bomb blasts in India. But thanks to the writers, at least she made it alive till the end of the series.
8. Sucharita Bandekar
You might remember this aunty from Rohit Shetty’s Singham where she acted as the mother of Kajal Aggarwal’s Kavya Bhosle and you might also remember her minute role as Mrs. Mohile, Ashutosh Rana’s wife in Simmba. Her character, thankfully, stood alive in both the films.
9. Vijay Patkar
Vijay Patkar popular in Marathi film industry has made his career in Hindi films doing only supporting roles/cameos including Rohit Shetty’s films like Singham where he played Constable Ramesh Kelkar and then in Simmba starring as another constable, Alok Borkar.
10. Pankaj Tripathi
First seen in the second instalment of Dabangg franchise, Tripathi played the role of Khilawan. In the following years, Tripathi was also seen in Singham Returns as Altaf Khan.
11. Kishore Nandlaskar
The late actor was seen playing the role of Anant’s peon in the first Singham movie and was later seen in Simmba playing the role of Court Room Record Keeper. Chalo, we can give this one a benefit of doubt and consider that it is the same actor and he evolved with time.
12. Sharat Saxena
Sharat Saxena, as you all know, is a widely appreciated artist. He was seen in the forgettavle Dabangg 3 as SP Satyendra. Interestingly, he was also a part of Singham Returns where he played the role of Shiv Rathod.
13. Ashwini Kalsekar
Who could forget Ashwini as the journalist Meera Shori from Singham Returns? She probably has the most recognisable face and performance in the whole Cop Universe. Her character in Singham Returns is very memorable that Rohit Shetty credited her with another powerful character as Judge Smita Parulkar in Simmba.
14. Uday Tikekar
Uday made his first appearance in the Cop Universe in Simmba as the Amit Shah of Goa i.e. Goa Ka Home Minister, Vinayak Dutta. In Rohit Shetty’s next venture Sooryavanshi, Rohit decided to give him a promotion for his well enough performance and this time, he became the CM of Maharashtra.
15. Shriswara Dubey
You might not remember this pretty face from Singham Returns but we are here to remind you. She was a member of Guruji’s (Anupam Kher’s) political party and also a TV actress, Neeta Parmar. She returns in Simmba and now becomes the wife of the leading baddie Durva Ranade i.e. Sonu Sood.
16. Sarita Joshi
We all have recently watched 12th Fail where Manoj Ki Daadi gave him her entire pension to go and study in a city. That moment, we all felt like ye daadi ko kahi to dekha hai but kaha dekha hai? Abhi batata hu kaha dekha hai. She first appeared in Singham Returns as the mother of head constable Mahesh. The second time we remember her of is Simmba where she played the mother of Sonu Sood i.e. Druva.
17. Ashok Samarth
Ashok made his first appearance in Shetty’s Cop Universe as Jaykant Shikre’s right hand in Singham. The actor was yet again seen in Simmba, but this time as an advocate.
18. Ganesh Yadav
First seen as an inspector in Singham Returns, Ganesh Yadav’s character went through a drastic career change and was seen as an advocate in Simmba.
19. Anil Charanjeett
Another recurring member of Rohit Shetty films, Anil Charanjeett, has been seen making multiple appearances in the cop universe, but again, as two completely different characters. He was first seen in Simmba, in a cameo appearance as Purab, which was later followed by another cameo appearance in Sooryavanshi as Aatmaram.
20. Ravi Besant
He was the one who took Kavya’s dupatta at the cinema in Singham, and got beaten up by the belt. He then went on to become a bully police officer who arrested young Simmba at the start of the film.
21. Deepraj Rana
Another mishap because of Chulbul Pandey’s inclusion in the cop universe! Actor Deepraj Rana was seen in both Dabangg 3 as well as Singham returns playing the role of Bali’s Henchman in the former. He was seen in Singham Returns as Retired Capt. Sunil Prabhat.
22. Shweta Tiwari
Another recurring actor playing a different character after the confirmation of a cinematic universe! Shweta Tiwari was first seen in Indian Police Force as Shruti Bakshi. However, she will also be seen in Singham Again, but this time as an intelligence officer under Bajirao Singham.
23. Murali Sharma
Murli Sharma is another actor who is seen most of Rohit Shetty movies. But this time the recurring casting is not a problem, but the Dabangg crossover is! Murli was first seen in Singham as DSP Satyam Patkar. Afterwhich, the actor appeared in Dabangg as ACP A.S. Malik.
24. Niktin Dheer
Though Rohit Shetty found him first for Chennai Express and later got him into the Cop Universe as the 3 maale ki building in Sooryavanshi. As he died in the film with very less screen time, Shetty compensated it by casting him as a leading police officer in his first web series, Indian Police Force. Nikitin was also seen in the second instalment of the Dabangg franchise as the brother of Prakash Raj.
25. Anonymous
We tried a lot but could not find his name. He almost every time plays a Gujarati character on screen. In Singham Again, he plays the father of one of the biker boys, whom Singham slpas, and in Simmba, he plays Hasmukh Parekh, a jeweller. You may think he is the same character who came from Mumbai to Singham, but he has a different son here. Okay, we leave this one to you guys.
Few Other Variants
Apart from the prominent cast, there are a lot of junior artists as well that appear cross films. Generally we tend to over look them, but some of them are still able to leave a mark and remain with us. We may not count them in the list, but they are surely worth mentioning.
Even though these mistakes are pretty easy to notice for the audience and also for the creator himself, he knows what entertains us and honestly proves it with each of his release. So coming to the end, which film do you think is the best film of the Cop Universe?
