With 2024 nearing its end, it’s been a year of hits and misses in the world of sequels. We’ve seen powerful films like Stree 2 dominate the box office, while others, like Indian 2, turned out to be major disappointments.
OTT sequels didn’t fare much better, with Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba and Mirzapur 3 falling flat, while Panchayat 3 was as entertaining as ever. But don’t worry, OCD Times is here to get you excited about the upcoming sequels set to release in the last quater of 2024. Get ready, because there’s plenty more to look forward to!
1. Pushpa : The Rule

Pushpa is coming back to rule this time! Pushpa 2 is one of the most anticipated films of the year, with everyone eagerly waiting for this Allu Arjun starrer. Pushpa: The Rise was the biggest blockbuster of 2021, and Pushpa 2 is set to do wonders at the box office. The sequel picks up right where the first part left off, with an epic showdown between Pushpa and Bhanwar Singh.
Did you know? Pushpa 2 is made on a massive budget of 500Cr, making it one of the most expensive Indian films to date.
2. Singham Again

Singham Again, the sequel to Singham Returns and the fifth installment in Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe, is loading this Diwali. This time, Rohit Shetty has expanded his universe with more actors, and everyone is excited to see what he has crafted.

3. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3Action Queens

Release Date – 1st November 2024
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was the biggest blockbuster of Kartik Aaryan’s career. Following its success, director Anees Bazmee quickly announced the third installment, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The film is set to release in theaters this Diwali, clashing with Rohit Shetty’s much-anticipated Singham Again. The teaser for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will be released by the end of this month.

4. Dhadak 2

Release Date – 22nd November 2024
Dhadak 2 is an upcoming romantic drama film. The announcement video is already out on YouTube, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in the leading roles. The concept looks very similar to Dhadak 1, with nothing unique in the announcement video.

5. Metro In Dino..

The sequel to Life in a… Metro, titled Metro In Dino, is an upcoming anthology film featuring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkana Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in leading roles. The film will present four stories, with each pair starring in one of them.
The music album of Life in a… Metro remains evergreen till date, and expectations are high for the same from Pritam and Anurag Basu. Following this, Anurag Basu will immediately start working on Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming romantic drama film.
6. Mufasa – The Lion King

The most beloved franchise among kids, The Lion King, is returning with a sequel. It’s a cherished part of many childhoods. Mufasa, the ultimate king of the jungle, will be back in theaters this Christmas.

7. Joker: Folie à Deux

8. Venom: The Last Dance

Venom and Eddie are back on the hunt again in the sequel to Venom: Let There Be Carnage, titled Venom: The Last Dance. This will be the final film in the Venom franchise. We might finally see Spider-Man in Venom 3, and there are high chances that Venom will join the Avengers “Doomsday.”
9. Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Produced by – Paramount Pictures
Release Date – 20th December 2024
The third installment in the franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, is an upcoming action-adventure comedy film set to release this Christmas, clashing with the much-anticipated film of the year, Mufasa. Both movies have a strong fan base, and Sonic 3 carries nostalgic value for those who remember playing Sonic on Sega video games.

Did you know? This project has been in development since 2015, following the release of Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014). It took the makers 9 years to bring this prequel film.
11. Gladiator II

Gladiator II is an upcoming epic historical action film and a sequel to Gladiator (2000). It took over two decades for this highly anticipated sequel to come to life. The glimpse of the film looks very promising.
