Trailer dekh ke dil se ek hi awaz ayi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa ke Akshay Kumar ki tarah, “Kya cheez hai kya cheez hai yar.” Great flow, keeps you interested, and the biggest points are that they did not reveal much and it was not a lazy compilation.

I always love the use of music and sfx in teasers and trailers. Mehnat lagti hai isme, dimag lagta hai, time lagta hai. Lekin iska result bhi diukhta hai. I always get excited when I see gunshots used as part of the flow/music/rhythm of the trailer. That is a very important skill of an editor and filmmaker. You do stuff that just draws the attention of the audience subconsciously, while their eyes and ears are busy looking at the actors and dialogues in a scene.

Raj and DK love to use old songs in their projects. They used Raat Baaki in the teaser and Aaj Ki Raat from Don in the trailer (Lagta hai Raat se kuch connection hai maybe). Series mein hoga ya nahi pata nahi, but it is better to directly use the original song in the background than to needlessly do a remake. Hollywood also uses songs directly. But yaha toh music rights bechne hote hain na sabse pehle.

Trailer Length

Ye hota hai trailer. Duration is 2:36 minute. Iske aage Prime Video ka logo and links hain isliye 2:51 dikhata hai youtube pe. Par socho. 6-9 Episodes honge wo bhi minimum 40 minutes ke. Matlab kam se kam 2 films ka duration, 2 films jitna content. Uske baad bhi jo trailer length hona chahiye wahi hai. Warna log 2:30 ghante ki film ka trailer hi 3 minute se zyada kar dete hain.

How Much To Reveal

I love how they did not reveal much. Out of everything, they only chose to show a few plot points. We know it is set in the 90’s. We know who Varun and Samantha were and how they became spies. Then we know wahi usual pyaar hua, ladai hui, par shayad Samatha tab tak pregnant thi. She gives birth to Nadia (who grows up to be Priyanka Chopra, another Citadel agent in the current timeline). Jab Honey (Samantha) ki past life (spy life) fir se samne aa jati hai tab ek older Bunny (Varun) bhi aa jayega and thode middle aged Honey Bunny ki kahani aage badhegi.

But we don’t know ki pehle kis wajah se alag hue. Baad mein kis wajah se milenge. Actual villain, uska motivation, Citadel ka threat, kaafi kuch nahi pata. Bas itna ki ek tracking system hai jo galat hatho mein nahi jana chahiye. So we will be engaged in the plot.

Actors and Characters

Varun and Samantha are both looking great in both their younger and older selves. Don’t have much to say, all good there. Soham Majumdar aur Shivankit Parihar ki comedy mast hai. Jaise Delhi-Mumbai wala joke jab nakli mein lad rahe the. (“Haan Dilli Se Hu Bc,” bhi Raj and DK ki hi film, Go Goa Gona ka dialogue hai).

Raj and DK ki ye baad kaafi acchi lagti hai. Aisa nahi lagta ki forced jokes hain. Characters hote hain, situations hoti hain, aur wo characters situations pe react karte hain. Ground level humour, real life se milta julta. Wo sab jo hum bhi daily life mein bolte hain, bas wo artists hain toh apna flavour dal ke usko mazedar bana dete hain.

Kashvi Majmundar as little Nadia is cute. Kay Kay Menon, Sikandar Kher and baki actors ka bhi kuch nahi dikhaya hai, so series ke time sab fresh rahega accha lagega.

Action

Kaafi sahi action lag raha hai. Koi grand set pieces, koi BGM pe star entry aur wo sab bakwas nahi. Slick, raw, stylized action hai. And har bar ki tarah Raj and Dk ka One Take action piece bhi hone wala hai. Really excited for that.

For all those who complain when I don’t like a trailer. Please save this review somewhere or remember it, so that you can compare and understand what is creative and what is not. Which of the things need skills and efforts and which ones are lazy and taken for granted. Thank you!
