Cutting A Teaser
Teaser cutting is an art. Every editor has the entire film before them to choose from. Now what they choose to show is up do them. Whether they wanna show a lot of footage in the name of teaser, is a choice. How long it will be is a choice. Will they show dialogues or not is a choice. Whether they base it on music, or sound effects, or a narration from the film, its all a choice. Not putting any efforts and doing template work is a choice and similarly going out of the way and putting extra efforts is also a choice.
Deva makers made a choice to base the teaser on a dance. A song is playing, Shahid is dancing, and we see glimpses, a lot of fast paced, intense glimpses. So imagine, the editor too had the entire film before him, and he chose to do something different. Credit for creativity? Absolutely!!
Kya Tease Kiya Hai
Teaser ka kaam hota hai tease karna, aur bhai kya mast tease ho gaya hu main. Itna sahi edit kiya hai 3-4 bar dekh gaya main. Aise generate ki jati hai excitement, ki thoda dikhao, pura mat dikhao, aur jo dikhao wo aisa dikhao ki aur dekhne ka mann kare. Dekh.. I mean, samajh rahe ho na kya bol raha hu?
They have not only used the song, they have done so much editing based on the beats. Even Zee Studio and Roy Kapur Films logo glitches on the beat. They have made the use of sound effects as part of the music and footage which looks crazy. Also, as the song progresses, Shahid’s intensity increases in the dance. Usi tarah se editor ne movie footage ki bhi intensity badhai hai. It all goes on so well.
Main kal tak excited nahi tha iske liye lekin ab kaafi zyada hu. I just hope and pray ye log trailer bhi itna hi accha cut karein.
Shahid Kapoor as Deva
Kya intensity hai bhai kya intensity hai. The madness that Shahid Kapoor is bringing in this film is insane. Looks like Kaminey, Udta Punjab, Haider all combined. He looks mad! And he is a cop. Policewala gunda lag raha hai. Loved every bit of the teaser.
Plot Reveal
Dekha short length aur creative approach ka result? Teaser matlab plot dikhana nahi hota. Humko kuch khas nahi pata plot ke bare mein sivay iske ki wo police wala hai aur thoda sanki hai. Pooja Hegde dance mein dikhi lekin kisi character ke bare mein nahi bataya. No dialogues, no story, nothing. Just a glimpse into the world they have created.
