Review ke pehle ek warning- This will be full of spoilers so if you haven’t watched Marco yet then skip directly to the verdict section! Now with that spoiler warning let’s begin this review bass itna yaad rakhna “Not For Faint Hearted”.
Marco released in theatres last weekend. Pehle toh mere yaha shows nahi the, phir achanak se 10 km door ek theatre mein list ho gaya, wo bhi Malayalam mein, saath mein English subtitles bhi the. Mai bhi khushi se dekhne chala gaya, aur jo experience tha mera, wo kaafi badhiya tha. Apni 10 km ki travelling mere liye totally worth it thi!
Marco Ki Story
See, it’s totally a simple revenge tale. Marco ka bhai hai ek Victor, jiska murder ho jaata hai. Marco uska hi badla lene ke liye nikal padta hai. Simple story, nothing unique, and there are no surprising elements in the film.
Har Taraf Khoon Hi Khoon
Before the interval, film mein aisa kuch bhi nahi tha jo mazedaar ho. 30-40 minutes tak toh theatre mein bore ho raha tha. But just before the interval, the pre-interval block was totally mind-boggling. Matlab haath kat rahe hain, pair kat rahe hain aur har jagah khoon hi khoon. Ek scene toh trailer mein dikhaya gaya tha jahan Marco apne muh se saamne khade aadmi ka kaan kaat deta hai. Jab film mein wo scene aata hai, tab thoda sa toh mai bhi dar gaya tha.
Interval ke baad action choreography was on another level, totally mazedaar! Har scene mein mazza aa raha tha. Ek staircase fight sequence tha jo one-take scene lag raha tha. Uska presentation aise tha ki wo kaafi khatarnak laga. Jaise Animal ka pre-interval block tha, waise hi yaad dila diya usne. Hand-to-hand combats, chainsaw sequences, gun combats , overall action ko kaafi ache se present kiya gaya tha.
Phir climax ke liye kya hi kahu! Film itni zyada violent ho jaati hai ki mai dar gaya tha. Maine pehle bhi kaha tha, spoiler kabhi bhi de sakta hu. Ek scene tha jahan villain ek chhote bache ko gas cylinder se maar deta hai—uske muh par baar-baar cylinder patak deta hai. Wo scene itna brutal tha ki maine aaj tak Indian film industry mein kabhi nahi dekha. Totally mind-blown! Jab maine trailer dekha tha, tab mujhe bilkul umeed nahi thi ki iss level ki brutality dekhne ko milegi.
Characters of Marco
Marco Peter played by Unni Mukundan, kya toh swag tha iss actor ka. Har sequence mein, khoon mein lipta hua hai, phir bhi tevar hai uske character mein. Uski screen presence kaafi sexy thi. Sabse badhiya character tha iss film ka wo tha Marco. Uske baad Russell, played by Abhimanyu Shammi Thilakan, ye bhi bilkul Marco jaisa, no sympathy, only believes in khoon kharaba.
Phir climax mein entry hoti hai sabse khatarnak villain ki, jo tha Cyrus, played by Kabir Singh Duhan. Cyrus ek butcher ka character play kar raha tha, jo kaafi bereham tha. Overall, har actor ka kaam badiya tha. Sab hi characters ko dekh kar mazza aa raha tha. Jagadish aur Siddique ka role bhi kaafi sahi tha. Aisa kisi ke saath personal connection feel nahi hota, but dekhne mein mazza bahut aata hai.
Ravi Basrur Ka Kamaal
BGM, abhi ke waqt mein BGM important role play karta hai, khaas kar aisi violent films mein. Ravi Basrur ne kamaal kar diya. Har sequence ke liye alag se ek BGM tha, har fight scene ka alag BGM, jo movie ke flow ke saath kaafi suit karta hai. Movie ke saath dekhne mein mazza aa raha tha.
Ghar wapas aa kar jab Spotify par sun raha tha, wo feel nahi aa raha tha. But after KGF, Ravi Basrur totally nailed it in Marco.
Thodi Achhi – Buri Baatein
Dekho, agar story ke liye dekhne ja rahe ho toh kuch nahi hai, bas ek family revenge tale hai. Lekin agar brutality dekhne ja rahe ho, toh jao! Agar R-rated content jaisi films pasand hai, toh ye film unhi fans ke liye hai. Agar Animal aur Kill ko enjoy kiya tha, toh ye film usse 5x zyada enjoy karoge. Mai bas ab tak shocked hoon ki CBFC walon ne aise scenes pass kaise kar diye theatrical release ke liye.
Jo bhi hoga, OTT par ye film dhamaka karne wali hai. Aaj ke waqt mein, ya aisa kahu, aaj ke trend mein violent films zyada ban rahi hain aur jo janta pasand bhi kar rahi hai. Malayalam industry hamesha se sabse aage rahi hai, aur unhone iss baar bhi prove kar diya ki wo log brutality aur violence genre mein bhi peeche nahi hain. Marco becomes the highest A-rated grossing film of the Malayalam industry.
Special mention for director Haneef Adeni for directing such a great violent film.
Verdict
Dekho yaar, maine toh totally enjoy kiya is film ko. Kasam se bhai, aisa violence maine Indian film industry mein aaj tak nahi dekha.
OCDTimes Rating – 4/5
Film mein aise toh kuch negative nahi tha, lekin wahi baat aa jaati hai phir story ki. Agar thode surprising elements rakh dete, toh 5 out of 5 de deta, but story mein aur thode loopholes the jo ki ignorable hain.
Suggestion – Please don’t buy food items while watching Marco.
