Irrespective of the casting, the Don 3 announcement has been hyped like anything for the last several years and finally, it is announced today with (mostly) negative reactions by the internet. Being neutral and honest, below is our reaction to the announcement video.
First, it has been shot in a green screen studio, and it looks, well.. not real.
The second and biggest mistake is that Excel Entertainment is presenting Ranveer Singh as the new Don but keeping his style as the old one. He is speaking in a manner that SRK did. “Mere dushman samajhte the ki main kabhi laut ke na aaunga..” Wahi style hai lekin woh andaaz bilkul nahi hai. I could only imagine SRK saying these exact same lines. I would have ripped my t-shirt right now if it was him. That’s how iconic his dialogue, and his style is.
Ranveer doesn’t look good while smoking, maybe I’m seeing him smoke for the first time, sorry don’t remember correctly right now. Srk on the other hand made smoking damn cool. You should have gone for a completely different style for Ranveer. Should have played on his strengths, given him other things to do . Here you have not spent time to create a character, just copied the SRK’s Don. Abhi hum nahi bhi chahenge toh app comparison karne pe majboor kar rahe ho.
Don is not like James Bond ki tropes same honge, chehra badal jayega bas. Amitabh Bachchan and Srk ki Don mein style alag tha bilkul. AB ki Agneepath aur Hrithik ki Agneepath mein style bilkul hi alag tha. Tobey-Andrew-Tom ke Spideys ek dusre se bilkul alag the. Tabhi ye sab chale. New generation ke naam pe sab log quality giraye ja rahe hain. Ab isko cheap money-making tactics na samjhu toh kya samjhu aap hi batao. Har taraf ek hi pattern dikh raha hai.
There was serious no need to make this in a rush. Film will come out in 2025. Ranveer will shoot for this only after he completes ‘Baiju Bawra’ with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. You could have take more time to write a better teaser, work on the style, look and other aspects of the character. You use PR to convey news from “sources” and then use fake comments for damage control after things go sideways. With the amount of Don-related posts being made today, if things were done correctly, you would have been not just on cloud 9 but 9000.
Kiara Advani approached for the Female Lead
With more development into the film, Kiara Advani is rumoured to play the female lead as she was spotted leaving the Excel Entertainment office along with producer Ritesh Sidwani.
Rumours say that Farhan Akhtar has just narrated the basic plotline to Kiara and she is already loving it but she is yet to officially sign the film.
However, her character will be much different and not the Jungli Billi aka Roma, played by Priyanka Chopra. Her character will be pivotal to the film and have negative shades.
What if Shah Rukh Khan did Don 3?
Bringing the nostalgia factor, an AI artist imagined Don 3 with the original actors, original class and the original charm. Fans are loving it and already terming it better than the original one.
