Trailer Cut

On youtube, it’s 2 min 52 seconds long, but if you remove the ads from the start and end then the actual length of the trailer is 2:46 minutes. This trailer has a lot of title cards and hence they too take away a lot of time, hence we see lesser footage, which is a very nice thing.

The opening of the trailer is slow and very creative. You see a farmer ploughing and waha se hath nikalta hai fir truck bhar ke body. Yahi toh cinema ka magic hota hai ki aap kaise dikhate ho. Another very interesting thing is that the trailer opens with the villains. The Hero’s entry happens at the one minute mark, that too slowly. So the intent of the editor was to focus on how to cut the trailer in an interesting way, rather than focus on the hero to sell it to the fans. This is exactly what creative people do.

Very good trailer cut. Did not reveal too much plot, did not add 10+ dialogues. Good pacing, appropriate use of music and title cards. Very smooth and engaging cut.

Jaat Ka Plot

What I can figure out from the trailer is that the film is set in south India. There are villages and town where the villains have power and they do atrocities on the common people and the police is helpless. Sunny Deol is a Jaat from the north. That last dialogue – “dhai kilo ke hath ki takat pura north dekh chuka hai ab south dekhega,” sums it up well.

I think the story will eventually turn out to be hero vs villain. It will be quite simple but if it turns out to have layers and depth then extra maza aa jayega.

Self Aware Film

Yes, the film is massy and it has so many over the top moments. The film is gonna be full of over the dialogues and action sequences, but it looks like they knew what they were doing and they did it very well. There is no single thing that can say which film is self aware and which is not. It is just a feeling. It is the treatment of the film, the overall world you have created that makes you feel what’s working and what’s not. One recent example is Badass Ravikumar.

Remember when that poster came out with that big fan in Sunny Deol’s hand, everyone was making fun. But later when the teaser dropped it all looked cool and blended very well. So no matter how massy or ridiculous the scenes and dialogues are, they won’t feel cringe. Rather they would be enjoyable, that is what I feel as of now.

The Fabulous Cast

Sunny Deol is looking too fit and charismatic. Had felt that in the teaser itself. Randeep Hooda and Viineet Kumar Singh are the ones I’m looking forward to the most. They look really villainous, aur jitna bad villain, utna zyada maza. Regina Cassandra ka role nahi pata but we know she is a good actress. Ramya Krishnan seems to be in politics. Now both the ladies are playing positive or negative characters remains to be seen. Saiyami Kher seems to be the new cop and we can somewhat figure out how her character will be.

Babloo Prithveeraj (Asrar Haque from Animal) was shown in just one shot and Upendra Limaye (Freddy from Animal) is just there as a typical south character who is there to praise the hero for his introduction.Jagapathi Babu, Dayanand Shetty and Ayeha Khan were not shown at all. We do not know about these characters which means a lot of plot has been saved for the film, it’s not gonna be just mindless action.

Final Thoughts

Collection wise I can’t say how the audience will react but right now I feel almost everyone has liked what they saw. From the promo assets till now they have done their job well. It all boils down to the marketing now which will make or break this film. Word of mouth comes later but opening numbers also matter a lot, so a strong marketing will excite the audience and make them but the tickets.
