Everyone loves the heist thriller genre, right? After Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, everyone expected that Jewel Thief would also be a good Netflix original heist thriller movie—especially since it was produced by Marflix Pictures (Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand). But this is what they’ve made? I mean seriously… Kyu banayi?
This film is a perfect example of lazy writing, lazy story, lazy VFX, and lazy execution too.

Aaj Ka Problem
We’ve reached a point of comfort where we don’t want to wait for a thriller to build its narrative first and then bring in the main story or thrilling elements. Patience is running low among audiences—they don’t want to waste time.
Jewel Thief is one of the most iconic heist films in Bollywood—yes, I’m talking about the 1967 classic, not Saif’s Jewel Thief. The makers thought using that name might bring some value to the film… but no, it totally backfired on them.
Plot
Rehan, played by Saif, is one of the most skilled robbers in the world, carrying out high-profile heists. But suddenly, his brother Avi arrives from Mumbai to Budapest with shocking news—their father and Avi himself are in danger. The threat? Rajan Aulakh, who’s blackmailing them because he wants Rehan.
Rajan needs Rehan’s expertise to pull off the biggest heist of all time: stealing the Red Sun—a precious red diamond worth ₹500 crore. With the help of Rehan’s family, Rajan manages to track him down. But Rehan isn’t ready to follow orders blindly—he wants a 50-50 deal on the diamond.
Bas yehi story hai bhai, isse zyada kuch nahi hai.
Another character enters later, a big businessman named Moosa. Just to show the kind of relationship they share—Moosa had Rajan’s number saved in his phone as “HARAMI.” Clearly, there’s a backstory or past rivalry between Rajan and Moosa, but sadly, the movie never bothers to explain it.
Characters
Rehan, played by Saif, has a stylish characterization but nothing big. It’s just lazy writing. Bas ek chor hai jo chori karne mein kaafi zyada hoshiyar hai.
He was disowned by his own father, Jayant Roy, played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda, because of his robberies.
Rajan Aulakh, played by Jaideep Ahlawat — too good! Acting was really great. His look also made him seem like a born baddie. But because of this poorly written film, even his look and performance got wasted. We have seen Jaideep delivering an excellent performance this year in Paatal Lok 2. But after Paatal Lok, we got this surprise called Jewel Thief.
Farah, played by Nikita Dutta — totally senseless character. Iss character ke bina bhi ye movie banayi jaa sakti thi. Wo alag baat hai ki ye movie banani hi nahi chahiye thi.
Farah is the wife of Rajan and does side romance with Rehan. Heist se acha romantic love triangle movie bana dete.
Nikki Taneja, played by Meenal Sahu — we saw Meenal this year in Deva too as Rebecca. But here, despite so much screentime for Nikki, her character barely had any importance. Rehan bass usse ek do baar kaam ke liye yaad karta tha uske baad tu kaun, main kaun.
Ek aur character hai —
Vikram Patel, played by Kunal Kapoor — he plays a policeman who’s chasing Rehan everywhere but always fails to catch him. As usual, a very routine heist-thriller character.
What’s Good
There was some music in the movie which is actually good. Movie mein kuch ache points bhi hain — like it has a few nice moments, but only in parts.
But overall, hum toh yahi suggest karenge skip this movie.
Music and Songs
Everything’s bad in this movie.Robber comes from Budapest to Mumbai and walks randomly on the streets of Mumbai — and except Vikram, no one even cares. Bhai koi photo tak nahi nikaal raha uska, aur wo global level ka chor hai. Kaise aakhir?
Agar logic dhoondhne jaaunga toh bohot zyada negative points milenge iss movie mein.
Except Jaideep’s performance, there’s absolutely nothing in this movie that offers something really special.
Ye ek heist movie hai — but without any thrill.
You can directly skip this movie.Drive aayi thi na Sushant Singh Rajput ki heist movie? Yaad hai?
Ye usse bhi zyada buri hai.
Everyone thought Saif will be playing a Race 2-style Ranveer Singh role, but it ended up becoming Race 3.
VFX
Itna bura kaise kar lete ho Siddharth Anand bhai? Pathaan Ke sath bhi kiya tha khair wo toh Marflix ki thi bhi nahi rehne do Green screen hi dikha dete, isse acha. Bas ye 2 points kahunga VFX ke liye…Baaki aap samajhdaar ho.
Verdict
Ocdtimes Rating – 2/5
problem yeh hai inhone ek part toh bana diya end mein cliffhanger daalte hai aur kehte hai “The Heist Continues”. arey bhai dekh lena nahi banega second part.
2 star bhi zyda lag rahe hai humein toh.
