Kesari Chapter 2 released in theatres on 18th April. I know thoda sa late ho gaya hoon review ke liye, but special demand thi OCD Times ki public ki, isliye I’m back! Thoda busy tha, isliye pehle review nahi likh paaya. Do check out the author’s name at the end of every post.

The Debutant Director
Before getting into the review, I want to take a moment to appreciate debutant director Karan Singh Tyagi. This was his first film, and he absolutely nailed it. Very few directors are able to ace their debut projects, and this film was based on a sensitive and serious subject — yet he handled it with remarkable maturity and depth. Working with Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan was a big opportunity for him, and he truly made the most of it.
Pehle Theme Ki Baat
Dekho yaar, changes toh kiye hai, fiction toh kaafi daala hai. If you Google also, then you’ll see facts are different from the movie , but I’m not saying it in a negative way. Socha hoga makers ne ki audiences bore ho jaayegi, isiliye unhone fiction ki help le li — chalega, no problem. Beech beech mein scenes the kahin par jaha movie thoda bore karti hai, but still ek grip mil jaati hai jisse movie dekhne mei mazza aata hai.
The movie starts with a heart-wrenching scene — the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, it was really a hard-hitting scene. Try to reach theatres on time, maine thoda sa miss kar diya tha. Overall the story was good. The way writers built the narrative of the film was well done. Movie ka colour tone bhi theme par suit ho raha tha aur editing toh kamaal ki thi.
Now Let’s See What’s Good and What’s Bad in the Film
What’s Good
At first, I will talk about acting. Akshay Kumar’s screen presence was too, too good! When Akshay Kumar enters with that BGM “O Shera Uth Zara”, haa, ruko, BGM pe bhi aata hoon baad mein, pehle Akshay ki tareef. Akshay was so good in the film — this is definitely his genre, he did his best. He was on his nerves, Akshay was living his character as C Sankaran Nair. R Madhavan was brilliant, as usual. He enters late in the film and plays the role of Neville.
Dekho, jo maine pehle ki upar baat ki, Google pe ye Neville naam ka lawyer kahin nahi mila, but ab acting ki baat kar raha hoon toh rehne dete hain ye. R Madhavan did a tremendous job. Grey shade wala character tha ye, par kaafi badhiya tha wo courtroom arguments. Thodi si burayi hai character mein, par insaaniyat bhi hai.
Now let’s talk about Ananya Panday, who played Dilreet Gill. She delivered her career’s best performance. She was shining throughout the film. Role zyada nahi tha, but jitna bhi tha, kaafi zyada hi badhiya tha. Now, the role of Dyer, played by Simon Paisley Day. Role better ho sakta tha unka, but itna bura bhi nahi kahunga. Phir baat karunga Amit Sial ki. Unka character itna raw aur natural lag raha tha ki tareef jitni karu utni kam hai.
Ab F*** You Ki Baat
Bhai, Zabardast, Goosebumps, Mazza aagaya, bole toh ek number! Totally massy scene it was when Akshay says F*** You in court to the judge. Totally 3-4 scenes the film mein jab baar-baar goosebumps aate hain. Like Akshay enters in the court playing “O Shera” in the background. Uss scene ke liye mai 3 baar aur dekh lunga theatres mein. Totally worth every penny. Kesari Chapter 2 deserves to be watched in theatres only.

Music and Songs
Kithe Gaya Tu Saaiyaan was the first song which plays at the start, and the song was really peaceful. Music composer Shashwat Sachdeva did a tremendous job here. After that, O Shera Uth Zara — bhai jitni tareef karu kam hai uss song ki toh mazza aagaya theatres mein. Teri Mitti was also added in the second chapter for a few minutes, and the theatrical experience of that scene was so, so good. Waha bhi goosebumps aa jaate hain bhai. There is a song at the end, Parwardigara by Jubin Nautiyal — that was also good. Overall, songs hamesha yaad rahenge, movie ke khaas karke O Shera Uth Zara.
What’s Bad
Jab Neville (R Madhavan) ki entry hoti hai, tab background mein ek baar song chalta hai. Khumaari, uska kuch relation bhi nahi tha, irritate kar raha tha, song bewajah. Masaba Gupta ko film mein dikha diya, bahut awkward laga. Song bhi bewajah tha. Itni kuch buraiyaan nahi thi movie mein, bas kuch sequences boring the,kuch cheezein repetitive si lag rahi thi agar aapne zyada courtroom dramas dekhe honge toh aap iss point se relate kar paaoge. Overall, mazza aajayega dekhne mein toh.
Verdict
If you haven’t seen Kesari Chapter 2 yet in theatres, book your tickets now! You are missing something really big. We just want to thank Dharma, Akshay, Karan Singh Tyagi, Ananya Panday, and R Madhavan for this cinematic masterpiece. Go and watch this biopic of Sir Shankar Nair. History books haven’t taught us about these things. This is your time to witness the history of the Jallianwala Bagh. Climax tak aate aate ye film rula deti hai yaar well done makers! ek letter wala scene hai climax mein that was so emotional..
It’s really sad to see that the collections aren’t up to the mark. These kinds of films definitely deserve ₹500 Cr+ at the box office. Hope this marks a big comeback for Akshay Kumar.
