Trailer Overview
In a time where mostly over the top movies are working, Metro In Dino feels like a breath of fresh air, where we will see real characters, human stories, hear real music, and feel real emotions. Let’s get into the details.
Trailer Cut
This is one of those rare times when the trailer cut is almost perfect. One of those times when a long trailer does not feel like they revealed too much plot.
The movie has 8 central characters and fe wsid characters. So the trailer gets the benefit here. It shows everyone a little bit and even if it takes time, we do not feel overwhelmed with length.
If you notice, the content part of the trailer ends at 2:44 and after that it is just text slides with filler music. So 33 seconds of the trailer can be ignored altogether.
The trailer has been cut beautifully. The use of music and choice of shots is worth praising. To be able to translate the right kind of emotion is the biggest job of an editor and for that I would praise the editor from my heart. Ajkal thoda kam hi dekhne milta hai.
Story We Know
Dekho maine upar tareef toh kardi par thoda plot aur bacha lete toh accha rehta. The trailer is how the film will be. The first part will be romantic and lovey-dovey while the second half will deal with heart-breaks and kalesh.
We know that Aditya Roy Kapoor is commitment-phobic and Sara Ali Khan marries someone else. We know that Ali Fazal leaves Fatima Sana Shaikh and she loses her child. Pankanj Tripathi and Konkona Sen Sharma deal with the death of romance and a mid-life crisis. Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta are old lovers who got separated and met years later when they are above 60, I guess?
Obviously, it is the story in between that is the essence of the film, but still, I would have liked if the trailer only showed the kalesh and not the reason. A bit more of curiosity is always nice. I’ve started avoiding trailers as much as possible, unless I have to review and trust me, the experience of watching an unknown movie/show hits different. I also like discovering content on ott platforms. Try watching content without trailers, by recommendation from friends whom you trust.
Metro In Dino Ka Emotion
The best part about the trailer was that the characters, stories and emotions felt very real. All are good actors and even Sara was looking cute. You can feel the emotions even in such small glimpses of the individual stories.
Metro In Dino kuch aisa hi ho gaya hai.. Koi committment se darr raha hai toh koi bacche ki zimmedari se darr raha hai. Kisi ka pyaar adhura reh ja raha hai toh koi shaadi karke bhi pyaar nahi kar pa raha hai. I have a feeling ki ye jo office jane wali janta hai na, ye kahi na kahi kisi na kisi story ke kisi part se zarur relate karege and kaafi log royenge. Just a feeling. What do you think?
Metro In Dino Ka Music
Everyone loves Mohit Suri’s music in every film whether it’s Ek Villain, Ek Villain Returns, Murder 2, Awarapan, and many more. Just a day ago, Saiyaara’s title track was released, and it got loved by everyone 10M+ views in just a day!
And today, the Metro… In Dino trailer has been released , and man, the music… it’s truly magical. Incredible work by Pritam, Anurag Da, and the entire team.
If you look closely at Anurag Basu’s filmography, his contribution to music is truly great. Just look at the albums of Ludo, Barfi, Jagga Jasoos, Life in a… Metro, and now Metro… In Dino — that’s honestly amazing.
There are multiple songs and background scores in it that perfectly match the situations. For example, some of the lyrics I heard were:
♫♪ Ehsaas ho ya na ho, izhaar ho ya na ho..
Tere bin main reh na pata hu ye tujh se keh na pata hu,
Main aur Mohabbat kitni karu, itni toh Mohabbat karta hu. ♬
Kitni kam sunne milti hai aisi poetry aajkal ke gaano mein, haina?
I’ll definitely catch this film in cinemas, for both the music and the story. Waiting for the next single after Zamaana Lage because that’s already a part of my playlist. To be followed by the jukebox of course.
Special Mention
Loved seeing Pritam and band singing in public places. Hits the nostalgia at the right place.
Final Thoughts
Collection aur blockbuster ka nahi pata, but this feels like a very good film. I hope it turns out to be what it promises and earns well. I also hope that it inspires more directors and producers to make good cinema than just the mass-masala ones. Let me know if I missed anything or if you feel differently.
