Sikandar Teaser Review – Bhai Repackaged by Murugadoss!

Mass Presentation

The best thing first – Salman Khan as Sikandar looks Good! He is in his action avatar, and those sequences look stylish and massy. It is clear that it has been made keeping in mind what the fans want.

But should they be focusing only on the fans? Or a film should be made for everyone?

Cinematography

Another highlight in the teaser was the cinematography. The frames are beautiful, a lot many shots are very picturesque.

The Teaser Cut

The teaser cut is a mix of template editing and a bit of creativity. Opening and ending both are dialogues in the form of voiceover, something that can be used for a number of fan posts. The flow and pacing are nice, it was able to keep me interested all along. I take a lot of screenshots for my posts so I noticed they have used a lot of repeated shots, but I guess that’s alright for a teaser.

The best thing was the duration – 1 minute 20 seconds including all title cards, and the fact that they did not reveal too much. Otherwise many a times the teaser gives the feel onf the trailer and the trailer tell the whole plot of the film. Iss bar aisa nahi tha aur ye bahaut acchi baat hai.

Plot Kya Hai?

As per what they showed in the teaser, Sikandar looks like just another repackaged south film. A hero full of swag who can beat a lot of goons in style, the one and only messiah, with cheesy dialogues, loud BGM and slow-mo action set pieces. A villain who is into politics or mafia, a heroine just for the sake of it, usual songs-dance, some emotional moments and happy ending.

Again saying, this appears to be the plot as per the teaser. The film may have an in depth-story and better screenplay that makes the film engaging. After all it is A R Murugadoss. We have loved Ghajini and Holiday, so we can hope for the best.

Music and Dialogues

Music of a film is something that becomes the identity of the film. Whether it is a BGM that the young fans are so excited for these days or a general background score that resonates with the situation/sequence of the film, the music must be memorable. I have not liked the music at all, be it the first teaser or this one. It’s passable noise at best which will only excite young kids who have not seen enough cinema.

Dialogues are again average mass lines at best. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that gives you the feeling of a near ₹400 Cr film. I did liked the opening and ending dialogues in voiceover, but they are not very special. This criticism is for the director, producer and other artists involved, and not directed towards Salman Khan.

Bhai Toh Bhai Hain

Remember when Salman was Chulbul Pandey? When he was Sultan? Tiger in first two movies, Radhe in Wanted Wanted, Pawan in Bajrangi Bhaijaan? Salman Khan was a character very distinct from others in these films, and that’s how actors and characters should be. This is something I missed in the teaser very much.

Salman Khan is looking the same as he looked in Race 3, Tiger 3 and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Similar french beard with not much difference. His body movements and action is also not very slick and natural. While the music, camera work, editing and his magnanimous aura compensates for it, but as a film lover I want makers to push the boundaries. One unbeatable hero whom nobody can touch and he beats up everyone like its a plaything, is not what I wish to see in 2025. Especially when the budget is so much and the trade and fans are expecting the film to cross ₹1000 crores.

Final Thoughts

The teaser is not bad at all, it is definitely a good cut. But the way it is cut could have been better. There are various creative examples out there and hence I feel this way. We definitely need to wait for the trailer to get a better understanding of what to expect from the film. It is believed to drop around mid-March.
