Jolly LLB 3 teaser was perfect, down to the last minute detail.
The Length
Kaun hain ye editors? Kaha se ate hain ye?
1:30 minute ka trailer aur plot nahi bataya. Dekha hai kahi? Ajkal halat itni kharab hai ki plot bhi reveal kar dete hain aur maza bhi nahi ata.
Lekin iss bar aisa nahi hua. I always complain about revealing too much plot in the teaser itself, or having such long teasers. Many times people ask me for examples of a good teaser and immediately, I also go blank. But now I think we have a perfect example.
The Cut
Yah Allah, aise bhi teaser kat-te hain?
The teaser cut of Jolly LLB 3 focuses on the very basic but brilliant way to introduce a franchise teaser. We get to see Arshad Warsi from Jolly LLB, then we see Akshay Kumar from Jolly LLB 2, then we see the judge – Saurabh Shukla.
And uske baad wahi jo expected tha – maar peet, behas baazi – leading to Judge Tripathi ka sar dard aur audience ke maze hi maze.
We just know the basic premise. We don’t know the case, we don’t know how things will unfold, we dont know if Amrita Rao or Huma Qureshi are there, we don’t know if Boman Irani and Anu Kapoor will be there. All we know that we are gonna have a lot of fun. Actually tease kiya teaser ne.
Honestly, I don’t even want to see a trailer, only because I want to witness everything fresh and first-hand in the theatre. Lekin aap logon ko review chahiye hota hai na, so theek hai, aapke liye main ye dard sehne ko tyaar hu. (dramatic pose with slow zoom and BGM).
The Comedy
Housefull 5 review mein ye kaha tha – ye mera khud ka observation hai ki comedy kaise nikalti hai. You create unique characters with weird characteristics. Then you put them in absurd situations. When these weird characters interact with each other, or reach in their unique ways in a situation, waha se comedy nikalti hai. Recall akro Priyadarshan ki saari films aur batao ye sahi hai ya nahi.
Ajkal problem ye hai ki comedy ke naam pe rhyming words fekte hain (Samji Special), ya double meaning words bolte hain (Zaveri Special), ya actors bhi lines aise deliver karte ki dekho dekho maine punch mara. Nothing comes naturally these days, ki jaise upar kaha.. ki character aur situations hi unique hain, comedy naturally nikalti hai.
Jolly LLB 3 is totally opposite to that. Ye lag rahi hai real comedy. Dono Jolly ke apne apne characteristics hain, dono apne mein ajeeb hain, Judge khud ajeeb hai (ajeeb matlab unique). Wo forced comedy nahi kar rahe, itna accha direction, writing aur acting hai ki mast lag raha hai.
The Franchise
Jab se iski news ani start hui thi tab se hi main keh raha hu apne post ke captions mein.. ki 2-2 Jolly ayenge Judge Tripathi ka kya haal hoga. Ek Jolly sambhalta nahi ya Jolly vs Jolly hoga. And since then all I have seen is positivity.
1% blind fans ko hata do (jo sirf bhakti karte hain), toh maine sirf ye dekha hai ki log characters ko leke excited the. Arshad and Akshay as Jolly. People were happy to see the clash of the characters, not the stars. Even when the promos started a few days back, all the love is for the characters. This shows the entire frnachise is based on merit, art and creative energies of everyone involved.
This is what I always say, sell the film, sell the characters, not the stars. Star toh hoga hi na film mein, wo apna charm apna stardom dikha dega. Stardom is an add-on, its a bonus. What works is always the film, its characters, its songs, and its world.

Ye kitna brilliant hai. Case Number 1-7-2-2. Ek sath do-do. Notice kiya tha?
Title Cards
Pura design, font, present karne ka tareeka, sab unique lag raha hai as per the film. Most films do this, so this is not a special mention for Jolly LLB 3, just putting it here as a point.
‘Clash hoga court mein’, changes to ‘Kalesh hoga court mein’, this was nice.
Verbal behas ke alawa maar-peet peet bhi kar lete hain dono Jolly. Akshay gajar fekta hai, Arshad catch karke baad mein kha leta hai. Ye sab yudh dekhne mein maza ayega. This War seems more exciting than the Independence Day War, as of now.
Final Thoughts
Dekho maza toh ane wala hai. Aur kya hi bolu sab toh bol diya. Baki koi negative point kisi ko laga hoga toh comments mein batana, mujhe toh nahi laga. Baki please ye teaser yaad rakhna, aage jab bhi kisi kharab teaser ki baat hogi toh refernce yaad rahega ki accha teaser cut kya hota hai.
