Another Beautiful North-South Love
Song Overview
Pardesiya is a beautiful song, and we love it since we heard it for the first time in the Param Sundari announcement video. People have been asking for it since a long time now.
And finally, we got it on Sonu Nigam’s birthday. Waise toh Bollywood aisa karta nahi hai kabhi, par iss bar kiya toh accha laga. Another one loading – War 2 song on Kiara’s birthday. We are in for a treat.
The Song
The song is beautiful, I don’t think anyone will disagree. Jab se announcement teaser mein suna tha sab log demand kar rahe the, yaha tak ki ye bhi keh rahe the ki, “film postpone ho gayi 25 July se koi baat nahi , song nikal do.” So you know how good the vibe is. I personally love the “Takdum Takdum Tana NaNa NaRe” part as well.
Pardesiya has been composed by Sachin–Jigar, written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, and brought alive by Sonu Nigam’s soulful voice along with Krishnakali Saha as the female voice.
How It Is Shot
It is as lovely as romantic films are. Beautiful locations, good looking actors, some cliched poses (but they always work). The costumes are quite simple yet the vibe is delightful. Very well captured. Kudos to the DoP.
The North-South Feel
Janhvi Kapoor is actually looking like a south-Indian, with her saree/dresses, how the hair has been done, the makeup and the occasional kajra. Something that was a bit missing in Alia Bhatt in Two States. She did not look Tamil, but that was a great film too.
Ladko ka mostly zyada kuch karna nahi hota. Sid looks like a full on North ka ladka. The food habits was one more angle I liked. Whenever you try different cuisines, suggested by your friends or bf/bg, aisa hi reaction hota hai. Kuch pasand ata hai, kuch nahi, aur dusra hasta hai.
Fir wo riverside pe picnic and romance? Now that is fully filmy. Itna real mein nahi ho pata :p
Why not Lyrical Video
This is one major compain all the time. With all the songs, the teasers and trailers, we get to see A Lot of the film beforehand. One reason people subconsciously decide not to watch films in theatres, as they also know it will come on ott soon.
And for the ones who go to the theatres, they use the songs as bathroom breaks or check phones. No matter how good the songs are, if they have already watched the songs a lot of times, the impact reduces and hence many take out their phones.
One way to solve this problem is by posting only the lyrical video till the film’s release. That way, people will enjoy the songs and will feel a freshness when they see the footage in theatres for the first time.
