Samachar This Week – 16/1/25

From new film announcements, new sequels and releases, the last week brought us many exciting updates regarding various Bollywood projects! So, here we are at OCD Times bringing to you, a recap of last week – your weekly dose of Samachar to cover all news, updates and rumours surrounding movies! Samachar This Week.

Naagin Begins

After the humongous success of Stree 2, everyone is quite excited to see what Shraddha Kapoor is going to do next, and it’s finally happening. Nagin scripting reading sessions are going on, and producer Nikhil Dwivedi posted a story on Instagram for this. We will keep you updated on our social media handle.

YJHD X TMMTMTTM

The upcoming film of Kartik Aaryan will feature Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki in cameo roles. They are going to reprise their roles from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Along with Kartik, Sharvari is being considered as the leading lady of the film.

Shaitaan Trilogy

Panorama Studios is crafting a Horror Cinematic Universe after the grand success of Shaitaan. The first film in their pipeline is a remake of the Turkish film Dabbe. Producer Abhishek Pathak hinted that Shaitaan will be turned into a franchise, with scripting already underway for both Shaitaan 2 and Shaitaan 3.

Dhoom 4 In 2026

Dhoom 4 will begin next year in April 2026. Ranbir Kapoor will need to have a different look for Dhoom 4, and before that, he has to wrap up SLB’s Love And War. After that, he has to finish Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. So, after all this, Dhoom 4 will begin in 2026 only. Makers are currently looking for two female leads and one main antagonist from the South.

Rajkumar Hirani’s New Villain

Rajkumar Hirani is making his OTT debut with a web series on Disney+ Hotstar, starring Vikrant Massey in the lead. Initially planned as the role of a hero, Vikrant has now taken on the role of the villain in the series. Along with Vikrant, Arshad Warsi and Vir Hirani (son of Rajkumar Hirani) will also feature in the show, playing the protagonists.

Highlights of the week

Barring these updates, there has been a lot of developments regarding various other projects as well.

1. Makers are very much confident about Sikandar. Director AR Murugadoss said, “Every scene is crafted to leave an incredible mark.”
   
2. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani re-release helped it enter the ₹200 Cr club.
   
3. Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal starrer Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga is getting a sequel. The story will continue from where it ended in the first part.
   
4. Vicky Kaushal and Ananya Panday are in talks for Gully Boy 2. The film will be directed by Arjun Varain Singh (Kho Gaye Hum Kahan).
   
5. As per reports, Rajinikanth’s Coolie will be clashing with War II on Independence Weekend 2025.
   
6. Before the release of Azaad, Aman Devgn has already bagged his second film titled Jhalak, produced by Ajay Devgn and Panorama Studios.
   
7. Shahid Kapoor is in talks with Atlee for a masala entertainer, which will be Shahid’s next venture as a producer. The film will be directed by one of Atlee’s ADs.
   
8. Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur will reunite for a romantic film directed by Mohit Suri (Aashiqui 2).
   
9. Shooting for Anurag Basu’s untitled love story with Kartik Aaryan has been halted due to title issues with Vishesh Films. Initially, Triptii Dimri was cast, but she is now being replaced by content creator Imanvi Esmail.
   
10. Arjun Rampal and Aditi Rao Hydari will headline Imtiaz Ali’s Netflix Original series O Saathi Rey, directed by Sajid Ali (Laila Majnu).
    
11. SRK has rejected the lead role in Chamunda, a Maddock Horror Comedy Universe project. He didn’t want to be part of an already established universe. Makers are searching for a new lead, while Alia Bhatt has already been locked as the leading lady.
    
12. Alaya F is reportedly joining Shanaya Kapoor as the second female lead in Student Of The Year 3. The project will be a Disney+ Hotstar web series, not a movie.
    
13. Raat Akeli Hai 2 is happening. Chitrangda Singh joins Nawazuddin Siddiqui, with the film set to go on floors by mid-2025.
    
14. As per recent reports, Diljit Dosanjh’s Punjab 95 will release without cuts. Initially, CBFC demanded 120 cuts, but the film will now release as it was intended
    

Shoots – Kya Shuru Kya Khatam

1. Due to Rashmika Mandanna’s leg injury, the shoot of Sikandar has been halted temporarily. The film is expected to be wrapped up by next month.
   
2. Shakti Shalini shoot will begin in April 2025.
   
3. A new schedule of Love and War is underway in Mumbai.
   
4. The shoot for The India Story, starring Shreyas Talpade and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles, has commenced.
   
5. Shahid Kapoor’s Arjun Ustara has started filming.
   
6. Dhadak 2 is on track to be wrapped up by March 2025.

New Releases, Release Dates and Announcements

1. Jailer 2 announcement video is out now.
   
2. Badass Ravikumar trailer and the song Dil Ke Taj Mahal Mein have been released.
   
3. Deva teaser and the song Bhasad Macha are out now.
   
4. Sky Force trailer, Mayee song, and Kya Meri Yaad Aati Hai song are out now.
   
5. Pushpa 2 Reloaded glimpse is out now, releasing in theatres on 17th January.
   
6. Deva trailer will be released on 21st January.
   
7. Loveyapa will release in theatres on 7th February 2025.
   
8. Suriya’s retro new poster is out now, releasing in theatres on 1st May.
   
9. New poster for The Rajasaab is out now.
   
10. Hisaab Barabar will be streaming on Zee5 from 17th January
    
11. Pataal Lok Season 2 is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Hollywood and other International Samachar

1. A live-service God Of War game has just been cancelled by Sony.
   
2. Renowned Hollywood director David Lynch has passed away at the age of 78.
   
3. The first trailer for the final season of Netflix series You has been released.
   
4. The first trailer for the live-action Until Dawn movie has been released.
   
5. The first teaser for the Spartacus sequel series has been released.
