Sunai De Raha Hai, Behra Nahi Hu Main!
Okay, so this one is less of a fan fiction and more of a ‘What If’ scenario. Today marks on year of the film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol among others.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film made a lot of people uneasy and left them divided. But one this for sure, it broke many rules of filmmaking and showed the world the true potential of cinema, if artists (actors, directors, musicians and others) are given freedom to create art, rather than worry about studios, rules, public image, marketing and box office.
Premise
What if, instead of sending Zoya for honey-trapping Ranvijay, Abrar contacted Geetanjali?
Context
Just after wedding she asks Ranvijay, “You won’t be like your father, right?” And the way Ranvijay reacts she and us as audience both know where we should not go. They then move to America and have a wonderful life.
Towards the end of the film, Geetanjali says, “I really wish he had died that day.” We realize that she was so frustrated with everything Ranvijay had been doing since he came back from the USA, that even tough she knew how Ranvijay would react, she could not keep it inside anymore.
Just think, this would be building inside her since the day they arrived after the attack. Ranvijay was mistreated at the hospital. She was never treated like a Bahu (daughter-in-law) in such a dysfunctional home. And then it was Ranvijay’s army of brothers, Jeeja killing/missing and fake Balbir Singh’s death. All this happened before everything went to shit after Ranvijay’s brutal massacre at the hotel.
So it was very easy to turn Rashmika to their side. Abrar wanted only one thing, Balbir’s death, not Ranvijay’s or anyone else’s. If Balbir Singh was dead, Ranvijay could not do anything. Yes, there would have been a chance that Ranvijay went mad with rage and behaved the same way he was doing now. But it was a risk worth taking. Maybe there was a possibility that Geetanjali and her family could convince him to either return to USA, or live a normal life.
The Alternate Plot
Remember divorcee friend of Geetanjali who suggested her to wear seductive clothes to seduce Ranvijay? Let’s say she was also a mole, whom Abrar uses to manipulate Geetanjali slowly. We know how women talk and share things among friends and take advices. Imagine the same scenario, only difference being that the friend very slyly gets too friendly and gets Geetanjali emotionally attached, in order to mould her anger into menace.
Rest of the story goes the same way. Ranvijay is still on the trail of the lurking enemy. While he was not paying any attention to his family, Geetanjali gradually turned into an enemy. But what can she do?
The Death of Balbir Singh
The plot continues, fake Balbir Singh dies, Jeeja dies, Hotel fight takes place and Ranvijay gets severely injured. This was the final nail in the coffin. Geetanjali has had enough. Ranvijay is injured, everyone else is in shock. Things look calm, the Tabbar Brothers seem to be in control but there is a storm inside everyone. This is the best time.
Geetanjali’s friend passes her some kind of poison that will cause a stroke and will not be found in autopsy. Geetanjali somehow manages to add little amounts of that poison in Balbir Singh’s food, water, or tea, whenever she gets the chance. The amount was not enough to kill him but enough to make him weak and ill over a period of time.
Here time was running out for Ranvijay as well, he was not getting the heart. But that could change any day. Geetanjali needed to kill Balbir Singh before Ranvijay recovers fully. So she takes her chance and gives his father-in-law the final dose of that poison with his medicine before sleeping. Balbir dies in his sleep.
Breadcrumbs
Ranvijay does not take this well. He cries a lot, stops eating and everyone gets worried as they feared he would die this way. But he tells that he won’t. He is strong and he will be the best Papa that he always craved. It appeared to be a natural death for Balbir Singh, so there was no talk of revenge whatsoever. Abrar was a forgotten chapter. Now Geetanjali could live a normal life.
But things did not go as planned. After the heart transplant, somehow it comes to light that Balbir was poisoned. But that’s not all. Unknowingly, Geetanjali had left breadcrumbs and she knew it would soon lead back to her. In a very hurried manner, Geetanjali runs, leaving her kids behind, as she knew Ranvijay would kill her, but won’t harm his own kids. She runs to her friend, unaware that she is Abrar’s accomplice.
The Secret Unfolds
Ranvijay finds out about Geetanjali but cannot believe it. He wants to ask her himself but cannot find her. He tries calling her but phone is unreachable. Her friend had asked Geetanjali to ditch her phone before she arrives so that nobody can track her. Ranvijay is furious now. He starts breaking things at home, his cousins watch him in silence. He does not know what to do now. If it was any other person he would kill them in an instant. But Geetanjali??
He askes his Tabbar brothers to find out about her. They had been following her for her safety since the past few months. So they start checking out all the places she used to go. And ultimately they are able to track her.
Geetanjali is crying uncontrollably. Her life is ruined. She did all this to have a normal life with Ranvijay and the kids but that would never happen now. Will Ranvijay kill him? As she is babbling out all these things to her friend. Abrar and Abid enter the room and Abid calls her Bhabhi, and tells her that they will protect her. Ultimately she is family.
Geetanjali’s legs turns to jelly as she realizes what has happened. She drops to her knees. Her friend pick her up. Abid gives her a glass of water, tells her that it was all them this whole time. That her friend too was in on this. They try to explain how it was necessary, but it ends now. They will protect her if needed, and they don’t plan to kill Ranvijay or anybody else.
The Final Confrontation
Ranvijay reaches her friend’s bungalow. He enter alone, unaware of Abid and Abrar’s presence. The brothers wait outside. Ranvijay sees Geetanjali. Both just look at each other with teary eyes. He asks her, “Kyu?.” Geetanjali stands numb. Abid’s voice fills the room, “Kyuki hum chahte the.” Abid and Abrar appear before Ranvijay. He pulls out his gun. Abid pulls out his own at Ranvijay, but Abrar points his towards Geetanjali.
Some heavy dialogues go down. Ranvijay is fuming, he just needs to call out once and his brothers will come in. But he fears Abrar will shoot Geetanjali. He tries reaching his pockets slowly to call his brothers but Abid notices and takes away his phone. Abid tries to explain that it can all end right now, nobody has to get hurt. But Ranvijay notices Abrar’s eyes. He wants blood.
It has been a while. One of the cousins comes in to check. On noticing the guns and two strange men, he shouts. The others rush in. Bullets fire. Abid falls back, firing away. more men enter the hall, to protect thei boss. Ranvijay and Abrar look at each other. Ranvijay moves forward to shield Geetanjali, eyes still locked on Abrar, hoping he will also run but before making the run, Abrar shoots Geetanjali in the head. She falls. Ranvijay holds Geetanjali in his arms, crying. Bullets are flying all over. Abid pulls away Abrar, but gets shot in the arm. Geetanjali’s friend gets shot with multiple bullets but the Haque brothers escape.
The Tabbar brothers follow them. The chase ultimately leads them to an abandoned airstrip. But the Haque brothers are stopped before the can board their airplane. Ranvijay reaches a few minutes late and now the final fight takes place beween Ranvijay and Abrar just like the original film, only the emotion is not the same.
Animal Park
The post credit scene happens the same way, only difference being that there is no Zoya here. Aziz not only wants to kill Ranvijay and other members of his family, he also wants to take over the business of Swastik Steel.
Hope you liked the story. This was not a full film script, nor we are saying if this could be a better plot. It’s just a ‘What If’ scenario. you can say, in another Universe. The whole idea here was just to write something and hopefully entertain you.
